Forums - Sales Discussion - Warhawk 107k- Lair 92k/ STRANGE numbers

Wow warhawk had so many possitive and great reviews and it sold 107k, while LAIR horrible reviews and it sold almost as good as Warhawk!?! 92k

Unleass WarHawk number only include Blue Ray version but that is hard to belive.

Problem is that many people will not purchase Warhawk because it is online multiplayer only. If it had some sort of single player mode, it'd probably be at least double that.

To cash in my CC rewards points for $300 in Circuit City gift cards to purchase a 360 or not: That is the question.

Nah it's the hype. LAIR was one of E3 2007 and 2006 highlights. Heck, many PS3 fans claimed it to be PS3 savior.

 ???

Just noticed one more thing. Someone correct me if i am wrong but Warhawk was released on 28th August? And Lair on 29th? And numbers only cover up to 1 September?

I agree.

BTW Lair seems to offer a quite unique gaming experience. Quite a few people actually like the game after getting to know the controls properly and some reviewers like Play Magazine, UnderGroundOnline, GamePro, GameZone and Game Informer have rated the game above 72%.

One reason why Warhawk has fewer reported retail sales is because the game is also being distributed on the PSN at a cheaper price, impossible to track for tracking companies.

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

PS3 vs 360 sales

lol hype isnt the only reason.

Most people don't read reviews and I bet the game cover makes te game interesting and worth buying.

I think it's pretty safe to assume that 30% of buyers decide to pick downloadable version up (according to surveys) . It would give around 140k as for week one. Solid as for multiplayer only game.

Edit:

I'm sure Sony makes a lot more money on downloads - I wouldn't be surprised if they earn twice as much as for retailer version.

Yes, but like i said above, games were released on 28th and 29th of August, and this numbers are for sales up 1 September. So what that means is that they were on market for  4-5 days, less than a week.

I wouldn't worry - I believe WarHawk will easily outsell LAIR lifetime. Its only the first week - wait till word of mouth gets around.
