Beyond the Beyond.

The gameplay mechanics are pretty solid but everything about the game was decidedly average. It even has an avergae Sakuraba sountrack, and I didn't even think that was possible.

Two that come to mind are Questron, the ancient C64 RPG, and even though it's a Strat-RPG, Tactics Ogre was pretty blah. There was one SNES launch-window RPG too. Can't remember the name of it. It was a mode 7-heavy (quite choppy) RPG played from a 3rd person perspective. Not that bad, but very underwhelming.

Holy Jesus!

Most average? Custom Robo. Fun concept and good gameplay, but short as hell and a weak story.

On the other hand, Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals is the best game ever.

The Board is the best site on the Internet.

If it wasn't for the hype, I'd say Blue Dragon.

The game sucks because people hyped it up, but if you look at it without the hype, it's a very vanilla jrpg.

We have boring characters, trying to stop a boring badguy from destroying the boring world and who also happen to have boring powers that allow them to be more than just boring kids.

There's nothing bad or broken about the game, it's just that it does nothing new or overly exciting.

I concur good sir, although the boss battle music was kick ass!!

nintendo and sega fan since i was old enough to hold a game controller.

note: my games collection on my profile is only 20ish% complete, i've got a boatload of 360,saturn and dreamcast games to add and a few ps3 games, thanks :)

probably dragon quest VIII.

Blue Dragon

Some really old PC Shareware-FF ripoff takes the cake for me. I can't even remember the bloody things name.

Other than that, I'd go with Tales of Symphonia or Final Fantasy 5.
