Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wii Fit on Jan 1, 2008 for $70?

Amazon has listed the Wii Fit to launch on Jan 1, 2008 for $69.99. The date would make sense to sell to people making New Years Resolutions. Gym memberships and fitness equipment sell at their yearly highs in January.

$70 for game + wii balance board...hmm. Maybe, just maybe. I will have to see it in all its glory first.

Sounds like a solid deal. This is a Miyamoto game after all, although considering the rating of all of the casual games it seems like reviewers will find something. Not saying it's not deserved, Wii Sports was a steaming pile, but because of the amount of time that casuals spend on something like this a day, the flaws don't show.

January 1st is a Sunday. I think it's just a placeholder date.

-edit-
Whoops, I was looking at 2006, January 1st 2008 is a Tuesday.  Could very well be true but I won't believe it until I see something official.

Big titles come out on Sundays, so it's possible. But, I'd agree, probobly a place holder.

Sometime in the first week of January would be a great time to release Wii Fit. Except for my gaming budget will not have recovered from the hit its about to take.

I guess my new year resolution for 2008 would be... exercise more some.

that early? wow, that pretty much means we know just one other 1st party game (mario kart!) that's gonna be released spring 2008.

though you're right, january does seem like a good time for something like wii fit.

the Wii is an epidemic.

New Years is a holiday. Most stores are closed. I'm going with the placeholder vote, both for date and price.

Why would amazon know anything...? When I first preordered Zelda Phantom Hourglass (in November 2006) my order was locked in for March 07 shipping. Since then they've sent me one of their automated e-mails 3 or 4 times saying they're terribly sorry that the release date had been pushed back by a month or 2, even though there never was an official release date from Nintendo until recently. I order on amazon a lot, but I've learnt that you cannot trust them when they estimate release dates, and also when they give you long back order times for already released products. If it says 4-6 weeks when you order, be prepared to wait anything between 2 weeks, 3 months and forever.
