I don't see anything except Mass Effect or SMG challenging this for GotY. Brilliant game. Loved every minute of it and I hope that someday, I'll get the chance to put down shit games like Lair and get to play it through again to get the other ending.

I think it's going to be exactly those three games and I think it's going to be a very bitter fight (and I'm going by Developers Choice Awards). I wont even try to guess which one will win it until I play all three and I'm even well aware that one or more of those may turn out to be terrible or another amazing game might come from left field.

Yeah, you can't write out games like Uncharted that may leap into the spotlight later on the in year. But right now, those three games are my personal favorites to take the GoTY award.

yep goty for bioshock smg and mass effect!

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

Bioshock is an excellent game, I just think it was reviewed a little leniently. I personally would have put it at about 93%, but hey, that's just my opinion. It's definitely Xbox's best shot at game of the year so far. It will bother me immensely if Halo 3 rates higher than Bioshock...

Yeah, comparing Bioshock to Halo 3 (which we should all get in the habit of doing, as opposed to comparing it solely to System Shock 2) there's no contest. Bioshock is just in a league of its own among shooters.

Prediction: Wii passes 360 in US between July - September 2008. (Wii supply will be the issue to watch, and barring any freak incidents between now and then as well.) - 6/5/08; Wow, came true even earlier. Wii is a monster.

Game of the year for me is between this and Mass Effect, but I really expect Mass Effect won't deliver on the whole huge open Universe thing and when that doesn't happen then this has my vote already.

Even if SMG was back to the level of quality of Mario 64, it's still a derivative sequel to a game I've already played so I'll like it a lot but can't put it ahead of a brand new game. Same thing when considering Ratchet and Clank.

I dunno enough about Uncharted yet to consider it, but Half Life 2 will also go up there probably along with ME and Bioshock.

Anyway, my opinion of the game? Amazing.

Amazing vocal acting.
Amazing music, atmosphere.
Amazing characters for the most part.
Amazing story.
One of the best looking games I have ever seen.
The world of rapture was totally believable and huge for an FPS (so much to explore outside of the main quest path).
The small touches in the game, the little details were superb. Everything from the musical starting menu (if you go up and down on that menu it makes a certain tune) to the little instruction videos on the plasmids to the announcements over the speakers, everything just so well done. A real living apocalyptic world and in an FPS, unbelievable.

The negative points (Very few):

The ending was crappy, the boss fight unsatisfying, should not exits (the fight that is not the ending :P)

The whole vita chamber revival system, I hated it. Why couldn't they just make it checkpoints and if you die you have to redo something. Takes some challenge out of the game.

Lots of minor glitches here and there like textures appearing and disappearing, and bodies going crazy and lots of slowdown in the last few levels (way too much in the last 2 areas) but nothing that would effect the game too much overall.

That's about all I can think of, only 3 flaws in the whole game.

Also, I really hope that when they make the sequel it has literally nothing to do with this one thematically and is a completely different setting and story. I really don't want them to ruin Rapture by making a sequel where you are some other guy out to get your character from this game or something like that. That would be fuckin terrible.

I would prefer if they didn't have a sequel at all, but I thought about it and they can keep the Bioshock title and add a number 2 to it yet make it a completely different setting and it would still work and I hope that's what they do. Don't ruin this for me :P

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

I've only played the demo on my friend's 360 but it was fun. My friend made fun of me for attacking the woman with the baby carriage without even thinking about it. If I end up doing what my signature says, I'll be getting this (or at least getting gamefly to rent most games w/o replayability)

To cash in my CC rewards points for $300 in Circuit City gift cards to purchase a 360 or not: That is the question.

Forgot to mention this might be the most quotable game ever...

So many great quotes especially from Ryan and Sander Cohen.

You do know that Bioshock is just a derivative of System Shock correct? I'm not saying it's a bad thing, I'm just saying that it means it's not a brand new game and so couldn't be put ahead of Mass Effect.

And yeah, some awesome quotes.  I don't know why, but I really loved the Jesus love me splicer and this quote:
