Forums - Sony Discussion - Factor 5: Lair sucks but, hey, it's not our fault

At least they can admit it's bad even though they still don't blame themselves.  I guess they forgot the point of focus testing...

For f***s sake...

"I think both Rogue Leader and Lair gave a good stab at poking into the depths of the systems for such early titles, and from that you have a second-generation growth opportunity that surpasses most developers that jump onto the bandwagon later."

...

Which is exactly why Rogue Leader was a decent/good game - but Rogue Leader II was a steaming pile of crud.

What a tosser.

I think the jury's still out on that one.  The case has yet to be tried, and SK did not release the game.  That in itself putsSE on a level above Factor 5.

true enough

"unfinished hardware"? It almost sounds like they expected the PS3 to be a lot more powerful than it ended up being. Sony did cut a lot of hardware to get the thing down to a $600 retail price.

"unfinished hardware" = PS3 wouldn't let the game be pretty enough to justify the utter lack of enjoyable gameplay or innovation I'm guessing?

Hmmm. I would think this little nugget is a bit out of context as I can't believe the statements he made didn't have some other meat to it. I can't believe he would throw his hands up and say "hey, we tried" with the game just hitting shelves. I would expect more of a "try it, you'll love it" and a "I can't understand why the reviewers panned it because the controls are just fine" Something, anything to keep the game alive other than a kicked puppy response.

I hate trolls.

Systems I currently own:  360, PS3, Wii, DS Lite (2)
Systems I've owned: PS2, PS1, Dreamcast, Saturn, 3DO, Genesis, Gamecube, N64, SNES, NES, GBA, GB, C64, Amiga, Atari 2600 and 5200, Sega Game Gear, Vectrex, Intellivision, Pong.  Yes, Pong.

Would it have really been that hard to include regular controls and have motion controls as an option. Hell they could have had the motion as a default to see if people would get used to it but give the players a choice. To be fair the controls weren't the only issues with the game according to the few reviews I read but I guess it was the easiest excuse they could use.
