Forums - General Discussion - Do you believe there is Life/Intelligence/Civilizations in Outer Space?

I seriously believe there is life out there in the universe.  :\

'The Universe is infinite'. That means that there are countless civilizations out there who have their own internet, their own internet forums and videogame chartz. There are 'infinate number of copies' of every individual here on earth and infinity also means that some of the individuals who are copies of you, are doing the exact same thing that you're doing this very moment, reading the end of this sentence!

That's plausible, right?

You know, it sure seems like there would be, given the size of the universe. I believe Calvin put it best though, “Sometimes I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.”

It sure makes sense to me!

I dunno about the infinite amount of copies thing, but I wouldn't be surprised if we discovered life somewhere out there.

but then both ar all me's started at the same time..... and all the planets are identical.... even a small change like a hill where there souldnt be one can change history so no.....

of course, its niave to assume we are the only planet to support life

I definitely think there is life out there somewhere, I just hope it's friendly and should we ever meet it, that we will be friendly too

well if humans have only been around for 2000 years or so, and the universe itself has been there for billions if not trillions of years, it would be very ignorant for us humans to think that we were the only intellegent life foce. if anything, theres probably far more intellegent creatures out there than we are..... IMO

Yeah, and when they find us, who knows, they could treat us as guinea pigs for sexy-alien-babe cosmetics. Human could be at the top of some aliens' menus.

Its hard enough to get along with alot of people. Hopefully the aliens leave us alone.

I'm pretty sure the universe isn't, I haven't done a physics degree, but I am pretty sure that the idea of the big bang is that it's constantly expanding, and for that, it couldnt be infinite. And in answer to the question, no. Life is so damn unlikely.

I think we should concentrate on finding some here before we start looking to the heavens.
