Why don'tI have a right to vote in that poll? If I did have a PS3 I still wouldn't buy BluRay movies because 1) I don't want a possible dead format and 2) I don't see the point for paying more money for something that I can barely tell the difference.

The poll is there for every member to vote in they choose and I simply chose to. This wasn't a Wii fanboy XBot thing, it was simply my opinion in the poll.

I know this is going off topic, but what's your logic there? That arguement is total rubbish, as it only applies to the PS3, not Blu-Ray movies! It's like saying, since CDs have replaced cassettes making it a dead format, format, so now I'm screwed because they're totally useless. Whereas in reality you could still use them and listen to them, and they'd still perform their function. Same with Blu-Ray, if HD-DVD wins the battle, then Blu-Rays won't suddenly stop working, they'll still perform their function, and and the same quality. In fact, have you got rid of all your Video Games that don't work on a current gen console, or DS/PSP, because they're dead formats (with the exception of PS2 games), no, you don't do that, because they still entertaining.

And thanks sinha for showing us your immature side...

It's not a rubbish argument.  My DVD's work in both HD players so that format isn't going to die for a very long time.  Lets say I bought into Bluray and HD DVD somehow won the format war (remember, hypothetically-- I'm not saying this is going to happen).  True, I would be able to play my BluRay movies in my PS3 until the machine died but I really don't want to bother keeping my PS3 around just to play movies.

Like I said, buying a console as a dedicated movie player is silly to me and I just don't want to keep one around to play movie collection.  In 10 years time when the PS3 is definitely out the window (please remember, we're still talking hypothetical) I still have to keep it around to watch my copy of Casino Royale.  I very much prefer to have things on one single format or have something that can play both formats (las in the HD player can play HD DVD and DVD's).  I don't keep cassette tapes around because I don't want to keep a cassette player around, not because cassette players don't work.

And as for your statement about getting rid of consoles-- completely different argument there.  My NES ins't necessarily a dead format, it's just a dead console.  Kind of the same but not really.  When I buy a console I know full and well that it will be dead and I'm not upset that my NES games don't work on my SNES.

didn't you hear tispower? there's a little chip inside your PS3 that if it's announced that HDDVD won, it sets off a small explosion that takes out your PS3, HDTV, and blu-ray collection. same goes for the 360 addon, i think stand alones may be safe, not sure.

I agree that "I don't have a PS3" should have been an option. Since it wasn't this is one Wii owner who didn't still vote (sorry to disrupt your world view there Hus).

i voted Blu-Ray 1 BR Movie , although I technically have 2 Blu-Ray Movies ... well that's because Sony sent me the same movie twice :)

There are actually a lot of PS3 owners on this site...I don't see the problem.

On the "what's your favorite console" poll, I thought the Wii got a couple thousand, but PS3 got at least 700...I don't see why this poll is so outrageous. I didn't vote on it...sounds like a few Wii owners may have...but I'm sure the majority of voters were PS3 owners...who cares anyway. Just a poll.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Sorry, being a bit brash, I admit it's not rubbish, but it's not a totally sound arguement either, because in reality everything get supplanted, altough I fail to see why you'd keep a NES around, not a PS3, because it's likely you'd keep your PS3 for games *and* movies, so it kinda falls into both parts of the arguement (as you split it into) by being a movie player and games console.

I own some 3 blu-ray movies, and I voted. I think there's more than 8 people who own a ps3 on the site.
