Forums - Microsoft Discussion - How to get back Xbox Live Arcade games?

Everyone should know today I recently purchased the Xbox 360 Elite, but I don't have my Live Arcade games because I got the new 120GB HDD. So is their a way to re-purchase the Arcade games again?

MS will send you a data transfer kit gratis if you call them. If you don't have your old hard drive, you'll need to call them, anyway -- recover your gamertag, then give them a ring, and MS service will verify that the games you downloaded belonged to your account and will credit you the MS points needed to repurchase all of them.

They have been stored on your Intercooler.

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

Sign into your old XBL Gamer Profile (whatever your name was, ie, Takashii).

Your XBL games are stored in-sync with the gamertag and profile. So once you've logged onto XBL with your old name, the games should appear as purchased, if you goto the Marketplace to buy them.

So go to the marketplace and you should see a check mark beside the game - it'll ask if you want to re-download them, and then re-download the games. This is what I did (and told kn to do) when our X360s died. It works atleast for broken X360s when we swapped them out.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

^^ doesn´t that mean I could log on to XBL with the profile of a friend and download all the games he bought for free ???

Just recover your gamertag and you can redownload them.

Yes, but if you do it this way, you'll have to be online to play them. If you stay logged into LIVE, that's not an issue, but if not, you'll need to contact MS.
