QFT; this is pretty much what I figured out myself. Well, I don't consider the day-one purchases that important but the effect exists nevertheless.

Wouldn't MGS4 be a better game for this comparison? It's pretty unfair to take two very hyped games agains the most hyped games of another console and then forget the best-selling, most hyped game of the other console. Yes, the thing won't change even if the numbers do but it does give a better view on the whole case.

I'd say the majority check out gaming sites, certainly. You don't need to be a part of the hype to read it. Killzone 2 was everywhere before it was released. PS3 owners are hardcore enough to spend a huge amount of money on the system in the first place, what's so suprising about them visiting a gaming site now and then?

Highest selling WRPGs is on 360 - Fallout, mass Effect
Highest selling TPS is on 360 - Gears 1 and 2
Highest selling FPS is on 360 - halo3 and take your pick
Highest selling Sports game is on 360 - Madden
Highest selling Driving Game is on 360 - Forza2
Highest selling JPRG is on 360 - Lost Odyssey (not sure about this actually?? - probably a PS3 game soon obviously)

and for fun

Highest selling gardening simulation is on 360 - viva pinata

so that leaves platforming... LBP on PS3

Also XBLA games sell better than their PSN counterparts. What other than LBP does PS3 have that it can boast as the best in its category???

Nor Killzone or Littlebigplanet or even mgs are huge brand names for playstation owners like Halo for xbox owners. GT is one of them.
Plus playstation owners seems they're not that focused on a sigle genre.
