Numbers would actually give this some perspective. The best selling shooters on the 360 range from about 4.5 million to about twice that.

PS3 shooter fans do not exist in those numbers.

Kill zone was hyped on websites such as this. Big deal. Fan boys don't sell, mass market does.

The Hype of the PS3 and 360 on this site is huge. Yet in the real world, the Wii dominates.

(Predicted on 5/31/11) END of 2011 Sales - Xbox 360 = 62M;  PS3 = 59M;  Wii = 97M

there are alot of reasons, first is that Halo 3 is a launch tittle and people who bought the xbox bought it cause it was the only AAA tittle available , Second Xbox owners love shooters most so its no suprise that the commercially succesful Gears was selling.

Ps3 owners however are varied , alot of them like RPG's and some like racers, sports, adventure ...ect the shooter fans are little compared to the PC and xbox 360 but they did grow overtime.

Halo 3 launched 2 years after launch.

Gears 1 was the first AAA title if I remember correctly.

 

I 100% with your list edit though. Uncharted is not a shooter and neither is MGS4.

It is just like how Tomb Raider wasn't considered a shooter before.

Didn't we have this exact same thread yet just a few days ago?

And @kowenicki: wrong logic.

Pitting 360 vs PS3 absolute sales doesnt tell you much about the preferences of PS3 owners regarding the various game genres. For example GTAIV has an higher tie ratio on PS3 than on 360, Madden will obviously sell better on the 360 in absolute terms (_American_ football) but again, see tie ratio with NA numbers,etc.

By your logic: Wii kart is the best selling racing game by far, does that mean that 360 owners aren't interested in racers?

PS3 owners don't buy as many games - just deal with it. There's so many reasons as to why 360 exclusives sell more, think them up for yourself.

PS3 dont sell much shooters as Xbox

Xbox dost sell RPGs/Adventure as well as the PS3


Xbox games tend to sell good in NA

PS3 games tends to sell good in JP+EU
