Forums - Microsoft Discussion - "Turn 10: Forza 3 to push the 360 in terms of both visuals and Performance"

Problem is they would have to remodel the cars with individual parts instead of just modelling the car as a whole. damage modeling can add loads of dev time to each car model. All the time spent remodelling each car would be awhile.

I knew this, you knew this, but polyphony digital didn't?

Why did they announce it?

With the visuals they are showing off for the new NFS I think Turn 10 can squeeze something a bit better out of the 360.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't collision modeling confirmed for GT5?
That alone would radically change the experience.

We still have to hear details, though I'm fairly confident in saying there will be something new on the disc besides the basic new content (Cars, tracks, etc).
Either way, it'll be interesting to to see, the game has been in development for a long time now.

No previous Prologue has been barely different at all.

I'm glad that you see the light.

Your sentence means that no previous prologue has been the same as the final release, due to your use of 'no' and 'barely different' in the same sentence.

And you are correct, the prologues have been different largely from the final release.  Tons more cars, tons more tracks, features, graphics, etc. And you don't know what Polyphony did or didn't do in development, and how the parts are modeled.  You and starcraft seem to be on this notion of speculating all of your arguments to make a non-existant point.  x_x

Easy. I loved GT and still hold it in high esteem. Unfortunately it's no longer on it's own. Sega GT was a piss poor attempt at GT from Sega.

Forza 1 was imo the best game of this type last gen. Unfortunately not enough people played it due to poor Xbox sales in Europe (the biggest market for this type of game).

GT4 was no different graphically than GT4P (possibly some fixed textures and and any framerate issues sorted) but essentially GT4 was GT4P with all the content. I expect GT5 to be GT5P with all the cars and tracks. Nothing more nothing less. This is easily based on Polyphony's previous installments.

And the model creation is common sense. Just like PGR 3 & 4. Why create each car model with all damage if it wont appear in the game. Considering there are 500+ cars in GT5 the difference would be 6-8 months dev time for just the car models. Add to that extra physics in the physics engine etc etc.

I'll believe it when I see it. Graphics are Forza 2's major weak point in my opinion, the environments are dull, tracks lack detail and there is too much reliance on identical track settings just with different layouts, and worst of all the car models are covered in jaggies.

Whilst I certainly anticipate a massive leap forwards over Forza 2, I don't expect Forza 3 to be the best looking racer on the 360, let alone to push the hardware beyond what was thought possible.

At time of release Forza 2 graphics for racing games were better than any other console game. But Turn 10 already told us they used the same engine from Forza 1 just enhanced for Forza 2. However they built new physics engines and what not for Forza 2.

The comment we heard from M$ a couple of weeks back about first party titles from M$ bettering KZ2, I have a feeling games like Forza 3 will be these titles. Turn 10 made the best looking racing title last gen (admitadely xbox 1 had a graphics advantage over PS2) but they have the talent.

Forza 2 track detail was very good for early 2007. Just against GT5P it looks old. I gues we will have to wait and see. But I dont doubt that first party M$ games will graphically jump with the likes of Forza 3, Alan Wake, Splinter Cell Conviction etc etc.

why, WHY does GT5 always have to be dragged into a Forza 3 thread? When people do this they are simply asking for an argument and well looks like I will have to oblige.

On GTPlanet a guy called Amar said GT5 was shown to reps at SCE Japan and were blown away by how GT5 looks. That tells me that the full game will look better then the prologue (:O) and with the cyrptic post Amar posted PD are cooking up someone else.

Forza 3 will probably release sometime this or next year which would make the development time for the game to be far smaller than GT5. Turn 10 will also have a smaller budget, less people working on the game and arguably the devs are not as talented at PD. I seriously doubt Forza 3 will come close to GT5 I sales or quality.

I have never had any doubt that Turn 10 would surpass GT5 visually. But more important than visuals, one thing Turn 10 has always outdone GT on is realism and community features. Sounds like Forza 3 is gonna be every car fans biggest wet dream.

EDIT: GT is still a good game, but Turn 10 seem to have more ambition and many more community features.

i doubt they will get it working on 1080p and 60fps like polyphony is and years of know u should know how great polyphony as a developers is.

I guess I can be a fanboy too...

I'll be surprised if GT5 surpasses GT4 graphically.

Not a 360 fanboy, just a PS3 fanboy hater that likes putting them in their place ^.^

I thought that same thing man when entering in here, but if the debate stays healthy and doesn't turn malicious/insulting, it's not a big deal, yes?

Yes agreed. People have differing opinions which makes us individuals. :)

But like CGI says, please keep this debate clean and healthy. After all I'll be buying GT5 to. :)

Oh selnor, I thought you were making strides to be less fanboyish, but it's all gone out the window now.

? Dont confuse fanboyish with an opinion. I am still aloud to have an opinion. That does not make a fanboy. :) There is still plenty of times when I defend PS3 exclusives. Unfortunately I am a massive racing fan, so I really take racing games to heart. Which reminds me Lewis Hamilton begins his defense of his F1 title in under 2 weeks. Now I'm excited.

P.S holy Crap, I get married in less than 48 hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
