Forums - Gaming Discussion - IGN suggests buying the 360 version of RE5 over PS3

Funny how many people were screaming how the PS3 version looked worse graphically when the demo was released and said that the 360 version was going to be so much better. Now that the game is out, it's actually the PS3 version that looks a little better. I've got the ps3 version and notice no framerate drops so they obviously aren't big drops so either way you buy is a win.

How is the knife easier to use? o.O (*hasn't played the PS3 version)

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

I went with the PS3 version myself although I really don't care about these minor differences. I'm surprised people are saying it looks better on the PS3 though.

This is funny. I've played both demos and found them to be the same. I ended up getting the PS3 version, which works very well. Oh, by the way xgamer, that's simply your opinion. The PS3 controller is more than adequate for RE5.

A friend who owns both platforms bought the PS3 version. (I think it's a good game for both systems).

Primary reasons

1) Less worries of his XBox 360 refurb dying again on him.
2) PS3 games being multi-regional (he's from the US and now works and lives in the Netherlands).

Secondary reasons

3) Less noisy system.
4) No worries about disc scratches
[5) And he can trade games with me when done. ]

IMO ported games to the PS3 have significantly improved, at least to the point that such reasonings as stated above become more relevant. It's usually very close to the point you have to look very hard to spot differences when running side by side.

I find it easier to use the trigger/bumpers on the PS3 controller because of the way I hold it, and I am basing this on the demo/default controls.  If you can remap the buttons, it will become a non-issue, but the button combination on the PS3 was much easier in my opinion.  If you could point me to a site that lists the layouts, I would be able to explain it better.  I played the 360 demo first and never used the knife, but for some reason it felt natural on the PS3.  The knife is pretty useful in this game.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

£40 or £130+£40...if I was going to buy it, I'd stick with just £40.

You could always try to put the X360 version into your PS3... just to see what happens.

So does Eurogamer. Clearly the definitive version.

This review shows me that there is clearly NO "definitive version".  Each version is nearly identical, with each also having small advantages over the other.  (The PS3 version having better colors and possibly textures, but also a big install and occasional minor framerate drops.)

For myself, I don't like the size of the install, but my 360 is a launch model and extremely loud.  I don't know what I'll choose yet.

My advice to fanboys: Brag about stuff that's true, not about stuff that's false. Predict stuff that's likely, not stuff that's unlikely. You will be happier, and we will be happier.
