Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars is the highest rated DS game on metacritic

"It's not GTAIV or Rockstar's fault that GTAIV wasn't the best game ever in your, and many other's opinions."

Yeah, it was reviewers for ignoring flaws and bugs just for some misguided attempt at proving big budget HD games are better than crappy casual games (how dare MK Wii take out snaking).

Not claiming praise was undeserved for GTA IV, just that when it had the hype of being the savior of HD gaming, it seemed that reviewers based their scores on that rather than the actual game. In other words, I think it got praise for the wrong reason.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

GTA 4 is the highest rated game in history.  So you tell me what reviews mean.

All depends of the source.

Moron -http://www.gamerankings.com/ps3/933036-grand-theft-auto-iv/index.html, like one space makes the difference, xbox 360 version is at number 4....  So that place has gta 4 in top 10 twice... now thats a top 10 to be proud of.  Also the PC version is at 376.... Its all just a collection of reviews to make anal people argue about it

A. You shouldn't call people "morons" here.

B. A few tenths of a point makes a huge quantifiable difference.

C. My computer plays Crysis on Very High. It has serious trouble and crashes with GTAIV. The PC version sucks for many reasons.

D. GTAIV deserved great reviews, imo. WTF is the problem? Everything great has haters. The darkest spot in the room is just underneath the candle.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

to bad it won't sell like other ds games

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

That's a fair opinion, because it least it gives an admittedly very half-assed reason for the GTAIV hatred, though imo, I think it's just a case of hating something because it wasn't what you expected, and because other people seemed to enjoy it more than you.

I really thought GTA was shit. GTAIII, ugh, Vice City and the crap that was San Andreas are my top two most over-rated games of all time. I was never given a reason to progress. There was too much freedom, and it grew boring quickly.

GTAIV was a much more streamlined experience, and that's why it appealed to me. I figured it for garbage and was pleasantly surprised. Perhaps that is why I am a defender of the game. It's not the best game ever, but it's vastly better than most of the Vice City lovers give it credit for. I think Vice City is shit. I pick no bones about it. I don't think it's "good, but over-rated." I think that game is terrible. It has no point. Its story sucks. The game is like the ramp that you jump just for the hell of jumping it. The game is a boring romp through an ugly town with a great MJ song to back you up. It's hip for the sake of being hip.

Now, GTAIV, it tried. For once, a game tried. It tried to have a real goddamn story. Something that I might read. I haven't had a game try that since Planescape. I enjoyed it. I loved Roman. I liked the game.

That is just my mindset.

Best quote from a game in the last 3 years?

"Would you kindly?"

...no

It's Niko:

"Don't fuck with my family!!"

i wonder if it will stay like that

Actually, I haven't played the game. It's just that the reviews seemed to neglect to mention the objective flaws in the game. Even if they wouldn't have docked points, the reviews should have mentioned them. That says willful ignorance to me.

The whole thing had the air of just inflating the importance of the game rather than the game itself.

That is what I mean. Whether the game is any good is irrelevant. It seemed to be praised for what they thought it would do for gaming rather than its own merits.

This is not surprising. After all, Grand Theft Auto is an overrated series in general. While the game is on par with previous releases in the series, there are many better games on the DS IMO.

Don't worry, I played GTAIV. It froze on me 3 times in a 5 day-rental. I couldn't wait to give that thing back.

ZenFolderVGI is entitled to his opinion, and I'm happy that he acually found some enjoyment of outGTA 4,wherever it was.  GTA III is my personal favorite, and Vice City wasn't too bad either; it is a close second. San Andreas was  good, but it just didn't hype me up like GTA 3 did when I played it.

I wonder if I can find GTA3 for my laptop. That would warrant a replay.......

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

Looks like its going to stay in the +90, it already has over 12 reviews and it still in 95.
