Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Arc Rise Fantasia - a ton of new screens and scans

Everytime I see this game i lose more interest, the Art style is vomi-trocious, Graphically it looks a PS2 game, its looks like another genric JRPG and I know this game has symphonia help, but some of those screens look alittle to much like TOS

Darn... when I first saw the screens, it looked like an Eternal Sonata-style battle system (which would've been sweet). Oh well...

Hates Nomura.

If you told me this was a PSP game I would believe you.

Anyway so long it is fun I don't mind.

Will probably be buying. The port screen sold me. I hope it's reminiscent of Queens from the original Dark Cloud lol.

Before you guys start calling the graphics bad, please look at the last trailer.

Looks even better when you go to the link and watch it in HQ.

Why would a trailer totally comprised of cutscenes convince people that the gameplay screens are just bad examples of the graphics?  Do you have a video of the actual gameplay in motion?

So you don't think those are in game graphics? In that case, FF XIII cutscenes (not CG) aren't bad examples of graphics as well, right? Besides, the games in motion always look better in the screens. You should know that.

But here's some battle vids:

Arc Rise Fantasia - two more videos

I must admit, those battle videos look pretty good and much better than the horrible screens.

A lot of games just look better in motion. Even Dead Rising CTYD. It may not look that impressive, but still much better than the "San Andreas with more colors than orange" look the screens give it.

This game, on the other hand, looks fine. It doesn't blow away with graphics, but it's not as though this was a major developer with plenty of people and development time.

I'm just glad to have another game that might play like Grandia. That's my favorite RPG system yet (Chrono Trigger's comes close).

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Looks interesting. I'll wait and see if a handheld version is made though seeing that I don't own a Wii.

Screens look interested, but why do Wii RPG's all seem to have worse graphics than Symphonia?

This game looks worse every time I see it. Seriously, it looks like it runs on the Mario Party 8 engine.

Tales of Symphonia 2 had pretty crappy graphics too.  Honestly, this game pretty good when they're showing shots of the scenery but as soon as they show the character models it goes way downhill.

I really hope you don't think that first screenshot is Tales of Symphonia 2.

This is a SquareEnix game called Radiata Stories. It was a budget game for Square that actually turned out to be a decent game. Although this game doesn't play anything like a Tales game and is a completely different art style than Arc Rise Fantasia.

But if you did know that then sorry in advance.

And screens seem to show that the entire world of ARP is detailed, not just the characters. In Radiata, the models look great, while backgrounds are much more sparse and have this almost storybook design.
