Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Which one is next to become an on-rail shooter on the Wii?

@Zucas: You try harder next time, because my point wasn't that. I never said those games were good or not, I said the fans of the series don't want it to change so dramatically. And it's true because sales tell you that. So hopefully next time you'll use a bit of common sense when replying to someone, instead of going ahead and trying to be condescending.

Btw Dead Rising was a port of a 3 year old game, you couldn't come up with a better example?

Well with your argument being so weak with no foundation I didn't feel I needed to haha.

@Zucas: No foundation? You are now entering the trolling stage. I've given you the proof. Sales are the biggest proof you can get. All of the games that got a sudden change in genre did worse and weren't received particularly well by the critics and their fans. Why are you trying so hard to prove me wrong, when that's impossible?

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.

Fullfilled Prophecies

Can we please not insult each other over misunderstandings? Just explain the misunderstandings and make our points clear to each other.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

ill continue on...

They can allways make starfox a first person shooter style on rails game without the arwing or the land master and just the blaster.

Oh trestres just stop. You either have no idea what I have been saying or you really just like arguing with no base. Either way it isn't a game I play so find you someone else.

Lord- I agree it was a misunderstanding and when trestres figures out which area he misunderstood we will get on with the very silly thread.

Back to what I first said, I would love new star fox game that was on rails but I really hope people don't hate on it because they seem to like doing that a lot lately. Starfox is an awesome series. And weird enough, I'd love to see an entire game based on the on rails plunger mini game in Rayman Raving Rabbids. I always thought those were quite fun.

I wish all Wii games were rail shooters.

I wish devs would think that the Wii can do much better things than an on-rail shooter game. When I bought the console they didn't tell me that major efforts of 3rd parties were going to be games on-rails. I really hope UbiSoft makes a 'good' Red Steel 2 or that The Conduit achieves a mark high enough to make 3rd parties reconsider what they are doing.

What I want is that devs take the Wii as seriously as other consoles.

they are.

can you imagine if Dead Space or RE5 (or 6) was a third person game? what do you think the reactions would be?!?

for me, I would be pleased because I couldn't care less about HD or making every texture shiny.

but the "(online) gaming community" would be FLIPPING OUT.  it would be NON-STOP with the "why the FFFF isn't this on ps3/60?! look at those god-awful-eye-bleeding graphics!! look at those lighting effects, they aren't in real-time reflecting off the blood splatters onto the coffee cup in the background out of focus!!"

... frankly, I'm fine taking a break from that - getting AWESOME games that play to the [[Wii's strengths]]
is also a nice bonus =P

"new invasion"? the Wii really can't win, right?

first they take crap for releasing "noncore" games, now they are scoffed at for announcing SHOOTERS??

and it ain't exactly shovelware, folks.

at my count there are FIVE legit franchises on Wii with on-rails shooters.

1. Resident Evil (awesome game(s?))

2. House of the Dead (awesome gameS)

3. Sin & Punishment 2 (not even out yet!!)

4. Dead Space (not even out yet!!)

5. Ghost Squad (s'alright I guess)

so.... looking over that list, I certainly don't think this is the epidemic people complain that it is, and I certainly don't think it's anything to complain ABOUT!! these are quality, core titles that make the most of the Wii and could not be replicated on the other consoles......

gamers just won't stop complaining.... it's disgusting to watch.

This post wins IMO

thank you.

you should check out my 'blog' entry on this very topic from a few days ago... www.wiiaredeep.tk (3/11/09 post)

well capcom has casualised redient evil and EA has casualised dead space. nintendo will probably casualise star fox and give us an on rails shooter instead of a proper TPS, just like EA and capcom did

If Nintendo made Star Fox an on-rails shooter (in the traditional sense), they would catch endless flak for it. Endless. More endless than Endless Ocean, and that Ocean is deep.

What the hell? Everyone WANTS an on-rails shooter for Star Fox, that's what the series does best!
