Forums - Gaming Discussion - Is Resident Evil franchise is dead-Have we seen the last good game of RE ?

That's like asking was Zelda dead after Legend of Zelda II and Wind waker.

Just because it goes in a direction fans don't expect, doesn't make it a bad game.

RE 5 was not a RE ....

it was a Gears of Wars with black zombies

Wow, is RE 5 that bad? I haven't played it (besides the demo) but from playing that, it seemed like it was RE 4 (which everybody loved [ besides the few of us who like old school RE]) with Co-Op. I would have thought that everybody would love and praise this game, I know my friends that have already beaten it have praised this game (they got it a week early).

Anyways, RE is not dead, like someone earlier said, sales speak and it more than likely will say that it's still alive and kicking. Anyways, for those of us that don't like the formula of 4 and 5, for RE 6 there will be a "reboot." I don't know if that means changing the storyline or just the gameplay, it does make me a little hopeful.

As a franchise certainly not. Ultimately depends on sales of RE5 and RE:DC but I expect those to be profitable if not highly profitable.

RE as a horror/Survival game, might be dead though. I can only hope RE and RE0 sell amazingly well on Wii and prompt Capcom to return to more of an atmospheric RE style but that's highly unlikely and we know it. RE6 will probably be like RE5 turned up to 11. *sigh*

Um.... no...

Sure it may not scare anyone... but does RE have to scare you to be considered "good"??? Because from the impressions that I've been reading, alot of people are loving RE5 regardless...

RE5 is one of the best games i played in a long time. Me and my brother always wanted to play RE with two players. So we are having a great time with it. Now if only PS3 had a wiimote like controller so i can stop wasting bullets with this bad aiming control.

Resident Evil will never die! In fact, it's about the living dead. I know, you're question is targeted at the old school Resident Evil games which are made up of puzzle solving and slow pace horror. As long as there's portable and PSN/XBL we'll be seeing those style of games in the future.
