Forums - Gaming Discussion - COD4 hugely undertracked on here

"Call of Duty 4 has racked up 11 million unique players since launch on Xbox Live, and over 4 million on PlayStation Network, according to Infinity Ward's Rob Bowling."

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/cod4-has-11m-live-4m-psn-players

That's only the people that have connected their 360s/PS3s to the internet. According to VGChartz, it has sold 7 million on the 360 and 4 million on the PS3.

So, it's around 5 million undertracked then?

Around the Network

Xbox live = Xbox live X360 + Games for windows(pc).

Maybe?

Definately seems like it's undertracked, on 360 at least. But I have a hard time believing it outsold Halo 3...

@ guy above

The PC version doesn't require Live to play online. Unlike Gears of War >_>

VGChartz software sales are up to date and are accurate. I highly doubt COD 4 is under tracked by 5 million.

COD 4 has 11m Live subscribers and 4 million PSN subscribers - those figures are not game sales.

But the difference between the PSN and Live numbers is so huge. I know there are generally a lot more online players on 360, but it doesn't make sense for the 360 version to have almost triple the number of subscribers when the sales are less than double the PS3 version.

YOU ARE ALL WRONG.
WRONG.

VGCHARTZ numbers are correct.

Please think:

11m Live subscribers HAVE NOTHING TO DO with "sold games".

1) Look... if i buy 1 game, and on my 360 I'm playing it on my account.
Then my wife sign-in and play it too...
And then my 2 children...

4 Live users FOR 1 game sold.

2) Relook... I buy Call of Duty "new".
Then, after a few months, I sale it to someone.
After a few weeks, this "someone" trade COD4 at Gamestop.
The copie is sold again... and again...

MULTIPLE Live users FOR 1 game sold.

The OP is trying to say the X360 has sold 11 million copies and PS3 has sold around 4 million copies based on online user figures.

Some more evidence needs to be gathered and maybe Brett needs to be informed so he can adjust the game sale figures.

say hello to the rentals and second hand buyers ;P
