Forums - Gaming Discussion - Nintendo's 2nd Quarter Release Dates

I thought BWii was supposed to be the first online game in North America ... I wonder what happened ... I suppose we will find out at E3

Cool. Although it's not the greatest list, I'm still looking forward to Paper Mario and Mario Party. I'm really looking forward to the end of the year more...seeing as how most developers didn't join the Wii train until the beginning of this year.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Nintendo have always stated that Pokemon would arrive before BWii (may be delayed to add extra stuff to it). Just checked out a bunch of Super Paper Mario movies from GDC - wow, it looks hot! Can't wait :)

Any word on European release dates?

BWii is the first online game I care about The Wii list looks pretty bare, except for Paper Mario and Heatseeker. Nice to see the DS browser finally coming here.

super paper mario should sell really well. I am very excited about that game.

Paper Mario, Mario Party, Brain Academy and Pokemon... The 4 biggest games for the quarter are still all 1st party... Heatseekers is at least worth watching though... After promising online play "early in 2007," looks like its barely sneaking into the first half of the year. Eh.

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.

What is wrong with them being first party?

It has to do with the argument that 3rd party devs don't like Nintendo because Nintendo's IP's always overshadow their games. Missing the entire point that Nintendo just makes really good games whereas for Sony and MS hardware is more important and they are not principally game developers.

I agree that Nintendo needs more third party developers...but that doesn't mean it has too many first party games...Nintendo just plain rocks at making games. Whether a game is first or third party isn't exactly the best criteria for judging. Besides, if people still feel like making that argument, then we'll wait til later this year/next year when all these third developers that are now joining the Wii come out with their games.
