Honestly I agree it probably won't affect PS3 sales in a meaningful way, but I really disagree about it impacting Wii sales.  The problem I am having with this concept is the complete lack of overlap in appeal.  Honestly I think a game console that does karoke is quite a bit less interesting to pretty much everybody than a console that genuinely adds something new to the equation.

 You can argue and debate the merits of the Wii if you like but the fact remains the public view is that its new and innovative and I don't see how a PS2 bundled with a karoke game and mic is going to edge in on that in any way. 

The WiiMote should have had a microphone from the start. And WiiKaraoke with downloadable songs included. Add Skype support to that and Nintendo could never produce enough Wiis :)

lol at white ps2 btw... looks a lot better than white psp at least, i always thought the slim ps2 was a pretty good looking console, the GC was cute and i liked its design [wish i had got purple over black tho'] but slim ps2 looked cool. well except in pink, only DS, DSlite, GBAsp and GBAmicro can pull off pink properly, i think i remember a pinkish GC and it looked horrid.

oh and personally i don't think £99 for a ps2 is a bargain, i really wish ps2 would just die cos i kind of want to buy one and a couple of cheap games... i wonder how much 2nd hand ones go for.

There has bee Singstar and Buzz bundles for ages. This is just a new color for PS2.
The thing that hurts Wii sales during christmas is that it will be supply constrained. Better question would be that will Boogie hurt Singstar sales. I would say it definately will. Singstar has been pretty much the only that type of game in the market and now it has had competitor, which has atleast potential.

Maybe this coupled with the motion-controlled games for the PS2 can harm the Wii .

Nothing I can see here in the immediate future could hurt the Nintendo Wii.. comparing it to sing along game, I just don't see it having any real effect against a monster like Wii Sports.

That's not gonna kill the Wii nor the XBOX / PS3 sales, perhaps when the upcoming Wii-like accesoires (with the games ) for the PS2 are bundled it can hurt the Wii-sales.

I find it rather amusing that they chose the white color, obviously to fool people into getting it. "Oh look, I've found a Wii! And it's at a bargain price!" I've seen other "toys" trying to do this same kind of thing.

It would be even funnier if Nintendo decided to release their new colors this Christmas.

$200 dollar 360 not the core one will kill the wii, but that won't happen :(
