2009 is clearly the best year as far as FPS gaming goes. But 1998 was the golden year for everything gaming related.

oh 1998 was also the peak for resident evil games. That is when Resident Evil 2 came out.

Metal Gear Solid came out in 1998.. so did Resident Evil 2, Xenogears, Banjo Kazoie, Zelda:OOT, Parasite Eve, etc...one of the very best years as far as I´m concerned.

2008 was a better year, we could play all those old games, or play the fantastic new games, like GTA IV which is currently the 2nd best game ever according to metacritic and gamerankings and other games like LittleBigPlanet and Gears of War 2

Panzer Dragoon Saga mops the floor with all of them. >_>

MGS4 is by far the best game this gen. It is a top runner for best game of all time. Still, one game alone cannot beat back the onslaught of epicness that 1998 brings to the table.
