Forums - Gaming Discussion - One of Spores developers says "Wii is a piece of..."

I hope this guy isnt being forced to work on Spore Wii. But I think he is. Meh. I hope he gets fired from that job soon. No reason to let somebody who hates something work on a project and botch it.

Good point. I would also like to point out that Chris Hecker has never worked on a game that has actually shipped out to consumers (spore will be his first one).

This is just a lazy primadonna developer that just wants a easy way to write a game once and have it work perfectly the same on all three platforms. This is BS, each platforms has its strengths and weaknesses. Yes, Wii has the weakest CPU of the three. But if you design your AI parameters properly, there is no reason why the behaviours cannot be simulated on a Wii. If expression of your art is limited by the CPU, clearly you failed as an artist because you lack imagination

This is funny. You do know this is a PC game. NOT a Wii game. You do know that right? because it sounds like your saying he is makeing a Wii game... He is NOT.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Hecker Wow. How wrong are you. Edit: He has never shipped a game, but he is on the advisory board for GDC. He is a highly respected person in the gameing community.

um....you just proved him right man.

Wii Code 8761-5941-4718-0078

Kwaad please read the Wikipedia article you posted "Hecker spent many years working independently on a game based on the sport of rock climbing. In 2004, he took a job with Maxis, working with Will Wright on Spore. It is interesting to note that though Hecker is respected within the game industry, as of 2005 he still has not shipped a single game (this will likely change when Spore is released)." Furthermore these seem to be odd comments to make since EA and Maxis apparently think the DS is capable of handling Spore. http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=4664&Itemid=2

Will Wright: Well, we're focusing solely on the PC version at the moment. But we're thinking of Spore as a franchise, definitely, that will be across all platforms. Cellphones, too.
At the moment, there is no announced Wii version (currently only PC and DS have been officially announced) but by the sounds of it, it could be hitting the Wii (PS3, XBox 360, PS2, PSP, Cellphone, PDA, etc.)

Yup. Here is a link to in-game spore on the DS. http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id=10895&type=mov&pl=game I think I read somewhere that It will look MUCH better on the Wii. The PC version and PS3/360 versions, are all the same as the Cell phone version.
