Forums - Sony Discussion - Is the ps3 graphically moving ahead to fast? let's have a debate.

As you may all know im a die hard Xbox 360 fan, I would die for this console at any moment were my services required. I have  been seeing a lot of footage of Infamous and I have been left speechless, despite being a hardcore Xbox 360 fan I also own a Ps3 and Wii at the end of the day im a gamer at heart and need to experience all the great games, although the Wii has not seen any action for 9 months (waiting for the Mario games)

I have read recently that Infamous boasts graphics deemed only possible on the ps3 and is said to be using the full space capabalities of the Blu ray disc. with the recent release of Killzone 2 with both Sony and its fans proclaiming the game only possible on their system.

I want to ask is the ps3 moving ahead graphically too fast for it's competition and what does the competition have up its sleeve, lets have a sensible debate/discussion.

PS3 is the strongest console, so it's natural games developed for it looks the best.

Although it will not move too ahead of X360 since it has a serious memory bottleneck.

I think any graphical difference between the PS3 and 360 will never be large enough for the majority of people to notice/care.

inFamous has good graphics, but they're not a scratch on Killzone 2. Graphics can never progress too fast.

The next game which has a shot at looking better than KZ2 is Uncharted 2.

I agree with the bolded statement. PS3 exclusives may look better, but the difference will remain extremely unnoticcable for the average eye. Multiplatform games could go either way depending on which console the game is ported to.

This. The only major differences we'll see in graphical quality is in exclusive games. Killzone 2 and GoW2 for example are prime examples. Both of them are miles ahead of the majority of non-exclusive games but thats only because they were made for their respective systems. When it comes down to companies making non-exclusive games for both? I doubt we'll see any major differences, and since this generation has a ton of non-exclusive games. No one will really care, minus those who are die-hard fans of the exclusive systems.

Then let them have their debate!

Why must JRPG female leads suck so bad?

Maybe I am in the “majority” of people who just don’t care enough to notice the huge difference. I do not understand the hype of KZ2 being the greatest looking thing ever produced. Don’t get me wrong, it looks great but I do not think it looks any better than a lot of the other games in my collection (PS3 and 360 that is, as most of my Wii games look like crap and I accept that.)

Graphics can't really move ahead too fast. I do think that some ps3 games have more capabilities than 360 games. I would not only say in graphics but the way it streams everything makes it easy to have a game like uncharted on the system. Erm. I don't know if the 360 will keep up. Obviously it'll try. The thing that has to be concidered is that microsoft seems to be dumping a lot of their first party studios. Those are usually the ones that push a console... but idunno.. well see.

Check out my game about moles ^

It'll probably move ahead to the degree that the Original Xbox moved ahead of the PS2. It will be noticable, but not blow the 360 away.

I do have all of the consoles this generation, and I've only played the Killzone 2 demo (this morning, as a matter of fact). It doesn't destroy the 360, despite what you may have heard. And in all honesty, graphics are really just a small piece of the puzzle. I've spent the last couple of days playing Onchanbara on my Wii (yes, it sucks.) and Metal Gear Solid 3 on my PS3. Graphical capability is always a plus, but it's not the bottom line.

Gears of War 2, MGS4 and Uncharted are the only games that come close. CoD4 does pretty well for itself, considering it's a 2007 multiplat.

And believe me, you are not in the majority. What else do you think looks as good as KZ2?

This is, of course, only consoles.
