I agree it doesn't deserve anywhere near #4, but it is an awesome game.
Metroid Prime 3, imo, just feels way more epic and enjoyable to play, coupled with some of the best and most detailed environments i've ever seen in a video game.

Try to get me right here, Im not trolling or flaming and I honestly want to hear other peoples reflections on this. I dont feel that it is redefining the genre, not in any way, its "same same, not to different". Its not especially inventive, it feels like I've been there before so to say. So, what makes a majority of the reviewers class this game as the state of the art incarnation of games, jumping straight up to 4:th place on gamerankings. My question to you is, why is this game considered so "special" as a game? |
It's all a matter of opinion, for example Ocarina of Time and Final Fantasy VI don't make my top 10 list (I found Ocarina of Time boring with a clichéd storyline and a been here done that feeling to it, I made it to the desert and never played the game again, and Final Fantasy VI's villain was way too over the top and it's blatant attempts at being emotional were laughable, the worst part is my girlfriend at the time loved the game (she was a hardcore gamer) so I had to endure sitting there watching her play it and I think it was when it got to the Opera scene that I rolled my eyes and really hated how ridiculous and outrageous the game was, it took everything in me not to start laughing out loud, I remained silent though because I didn't want to ruin the experience she was having with the game).
It doesn't deserve #4, but it is a phenomenal game.

I want to play some more Bioshock before I express any "final opinions", so I plan on playing some more. Sadly it seems like my computer doesnt like the game. I have no mouse pointer, the textures are totaly screwed up, so I guess it has to wait.

Im think im close to the end of the game now, and i think it was a blast!
Insanely beautifull, great sounds, original setting.
Also the plasmids just make it a lot deeper than the average shooter.
Im not sure it deserves the #4 slot but its definitely in the top 10, becouse this game just does everything right and i think is one of the first shooters that incorporates rpg elemements in a way that doesnt seem forced/weird or useless.
this game is incredible but i dont think its number 4

I love this game, one of the best of all time for me, the problem with those lists is that is a general thing, I don't like FF that much and Zelda is good but not that much so depends on who is reading the list.
