Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Carnival Games Reviews.

Alright just curious where all the reviews are for this game. I saw the game in the shop already and was wondering if it was worth a purchase. Could be fun for parties. I still have money left on my Futureshop gift card.

Oh I found a review. Nintendo Power gave it a 7. So does that mean it's bad since Nintendo Power tends to overrate games?

Were you expecting much from it? I wouldn't. ;>

PS: Nintendo Power only overrates Nintendo made games, occassionally they'll even underrate third-party games.

I guess I wasn't expecting 9's or anything like that. 7 might be good enough. Carnival games are fun. Damn I should of just picked it up when I got Metroid yesterday. I was worried I might of ended up buying one of those really bad casual games in the 4 ranking range. I know some guys at work that picked up that fishing game for the Wii that got poor ratings. They don't pay attention to ratings though. Sometimes you can have more fun by not reading ratings I find.

If there's some certain specific reason you're attracted to Carnival Games (you really like ski ball?) then by all means pick it up otherwise it doesn't really look like it will be some breakthrough hit that's really worth looking at.

Nintendo Power doesn't over-rate

I just think if done right carnival games can be fun. Ring toss, water gun horse race, shooting star. The game lets you play with 4 players and apparantly assigns like 5 random games for you to try and win. I like games that make people want to play when you are having a party. Games like Metroid imo are not good for when you have lots of people together. Plus chicks dig party games. Party games, beer, and sex. That's Nintendo's philosphy. er or wait, maybe that was mine.

Not exactly an in-depth review, but here's what Nintendo Power said.

"At first glance Carnival Games appears to be a carnie version of Wii Sports, but with Skee Ball instead of bowling, miniature golf instead of regular golf, and sedated looking weirdos instead of the more-cheerful Miis. But once you dig in to this vast collection of carnival-themed activities, you’ll find it to be more of a single-player-focused experience than Wii Sports.

Not to say there isn’t a multiplayer mode- there is, and it’s fine. But for me, the value of Carnival Games comes from exploring the carnival, earning prizes, trading your prizes for bigger prizes, and unlocking new games.

Not that all the activities are hits, but there are more than 30 to choose from, and all are surprisingly authentic to the carnival experience. Coin tosses, shooting galleries, stacked milk bottles- they’re all there, and much more. The motion controls can be a bit unresponsive on some minigames, but on most they work well.

If you’re a fan of Wii’s pick-up-and-play titles, than picking up Carnival Games is a no brainer. – Andy M.”

This is the must have game for my significant other. I just want to make sure it is decent before I get it for her birthday. For some reason filling a clown's mouth with water so that a balloon pops makes her day.

Hell, I don't like going to real carnivals, let alone virtual ones. I wonder how they simulate the cabbage smell of carnie workers.
