Wow. Wii is getting killed in JP. Needs software nao.

PS3, good god it's doing better. Nice software, and hardware. With RE5 coming soon, it should stay nice and high.

Wow at Star Ocean. Freefell 90 percent or so in one week. Looks like it might make it to 250k lifetime in JP if it is lucky. Another game that should have been multi-plat SE. I hope you learned your lesson and give the PS3 the ports.

SE probably won't learn their lesson but that's ok.  And yea Wii needs a lot of help.  First to go down with economic troubles is usually the top dog because it starts to lose the mainstream.  That's Wii's issue in Japan.  But even more so it needs some games to help boost it back up at least until it can get Monster Hunter or Wii Sports Resort out.  Or maybe Ninty should think of something more radical.

But I'm pretty angry that Ninty hasn't tried to do anything by now.  Obviously Wii is having issues and needs something drastic but they just let it continue.  Just because it's still gold in the rest of the world doesn't mean you let it divebomb there.  Ninty your better than that so do something.

SE should just follow Capcom.  Make every game PS360.  IU, TLR, SO4 and FFvs XIII need to be MP.  No point in only making the biggest one MP. But Wada is too busy spending the Microsoft moneyhats to see the difference.

Wii is getting rocked. But in a market such as Japan, and it being the only one not having a big game releasing in the last few weeks I guess it should be sort of expected.

My problem is, Is Nintendo content with this steady downfall? I mean they need to do something. I mean MS and Sony will fall again or they'll stay about even but still Ninty shouldn't be content with sales on par with the competition in Japan.

Anyways good sales for Yakuza on PS3 along with great hardware push. 360 drops both in HW and SW for SO4 but it was expected. Not a bad week as long as you weren't looking for something good with Wii.

Zucas, The Wii has not had a major 3rd party game released in Japan except Tales of Symphonia 2. With this kind of support from 3rd parties it's no wonder the sales of the Wii will slide. Nintendo is one company and can not support the Wii with software on a continuous basis. Software takes time to develop and with out help from 3rd parties this is what happens. Unfortunately, Japanese developers focused their support first on the PS3 and Xbox 360. This is why their sales are up. However this will change and the Wii will reestablish it's self. Software just takes time to develop.

If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba

I think you guys are overreacting with Wii. Yes, this is a new low (are these numbers confirmed yet?), but better days are ahead. And even with all the new releases for the HD twins, their not exactly setting Japan on fire with those numbers. 35k is only good because the PS3 has been selling pretty badly since launch.

@patjuan: Wii has had many releases, though most of them flopped. The only ones that didnt flop were Karaoke Joysound and Taiko Drum Master. The rest were new IP's, established franchises, remakes, ports, but none did good. I think it's a marketing problem and Ninmtendo doesnt know how to get people interested in their console. Seriously I feel like Nintendo isnt even trying anymore, they expect people to buy Wii's only because it's cool to own one?

I'm pissed at their marketing strategy. What could happen if this starts happening in the West?

zleep - Western developers have given the Wii far more support. Even though we aren't seeing the major IPs in the West (such as a DQX), the mid-level support has been far greater. Thus making it far more difficult to happen.

But if it happened? That'd be incredible, as the PS3/X360 are in far better position in the West, should the Wii begin to falter.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

zleep - i kinda want that to happen in the west. not because i hat the wii or anything but it sure the would be a first for the industry and make this gen a whole lot more interesting

@DMJ - Really? 16K is being killed? Then is HD gaming in the US dead, since Nintendo has been doing 100k+ a week? Just saying, you're overreacting a LOT.

Wii ~12K??? Unbelievable.

One thing i know, Japan is one weird ass crazy wacked of their head land.

Crazy unpredictable place.

Go PS3, most expensive yet doing so well.

Couple things...

1) Star Ocean 4 is probably not supply constrained. It did 130,000 day one and then 168,000 week one. Four days of availability week one...so 130k/19k/11k/8k...Wouldn't be too surprising if it did 5k/3k/2k/1.5k/1k/750/500 and came it 13k for the week.

2) I suspect Media Create will come in higher for Wii as their two systems had started to diverge a bit in recent weeks.

3) Next week is the key - does PS3 boost again with its first RE game or does it decline? I think we can expect PS3 to top 45,000 next week but not much more as alot of the users buying this week are buying for RE5 and Yakuza 3 or in anticipation of RE5. Wii should stay fairly stable...360 will probably drop a bit. But we'll have to see.

all the numbers are higher even the software numbers (on media create)

OT: i don't believe the wii is 12k though

low PS3 hardware sales...i was expecting 50k+

very good yakuza sales
