Forums - Sony Discussion - GTA 5 To Be PS3 Bound? By Megaman2

Wonder why Megaman is banned AGAIN....its cause he's a rabid PS3 fanboy posting stupid threads.....the 360 version of GTA4 sold like 500k-1m more copies than the PS3 version, and the 360 version of GTA4 accounted for like 6-7M copies, so why would GTA5 go PS exclusive?! IT WONT. Its called Data COMPRESSION, 20-30GB can be compressed onto 9.4GB DVD with minimal quality loss.

PREDICTIONS:
(Predicted on 5/31/11) END of 2011 Sales - Xbox 360 = 62M;  PS3 = 59M;  Wii = 97M

So, San Andreas (For PS2 and Xbox), is better than GTA IV (For PS3 and Xbox 360), and you're blaming the 360 for being an inferior machine and holding the franchise back. That must mean you believe that the 360 is less powerful than the PS2, right?

I said it before, what limits a game is the processes in which it is made and the minds that make it.

Not limited by the power of the console. It was limited by the storage space of the media.

GTA San Andreas (PC) installation: approx. 4.6 GB
GTA IV (PC) installation: Approx. 15.5 GB

So the second one is worse because of the limited storage space?

Why are you comparing the PC versions when they are developed base on the spec of the consoles?

How much more content you think they can add when they have to bump up the visuals while keep it in a single DVD?

First, because I own both games, and currently have them installed on my PC, so it's easy to check. Second, because they are in essense the same game as the console versions, only with higher texture resolution. And also because the PC version of GTA IV is way worse than the console versions, in that it DOES NOT WORK!!! But that is all beside the point. Really.

The point is, you have a sequel that is more advanced in every single respect, and you're blaming the fact that it's worse than the predecessor on the fact that it is not advanced enough. It's like eating a cupcake and thinking it is awesome, so the next time you buy a bigger cupcake. When you don't think it's awesome, it's because it wasn't big enough. It's completely illogical. Taste has nothing to do with size. If anything, too much cupcake makes you feel ill.

I'm trying to tell you that the limitations on a game is the minds behind it and the processes it is created in, not the hardware specs. Hardware limitations are good. We need them, in order not to get lazy, to become inventive and to make sure that we actually finish the jobs we take. It's not like GTA IV suffered from them, it's more like it suffered from the lack of them.

This is invisible text!

im pretty sure GTA 5 will not be out before the 8th gen of consoles and by that time M$ should fix the storage space issue by using some other type of media whatever that may be and then GTA 5 will not be exclusive.

I mostly play RTS and Moba style games now adays as well as ALOT of benchmarking. I do play other games however such as the witcher 3 and Crysis 3, and recently Ashes of the Singularity. I love gaming on the cutting edge and refuse to accept any compromises. Proud member of the Glorious PC Gaming Master Race. Long Live SHIO!!!!

I agree with you on this but hardware limitation does matter.

They need the game to fit in a single DVD and that's the limitation.
