Ever since hearing Enter the Sandman on Rock Band I've been a fan of Metallica but I hear that they are overrated and that their new album in my opinion is nothing special.  What are better metal bands out there?

My favourite metal band is Apocalyptica - a metal band that consists entirely of 4 cello players. They write very good somgs, and have an album of metallica covers

I'm also quite a fan of old Metallica, Rammstein and I like a few songs of Disturbed and Korn

too many to pick from.

Disturbed, Korn, Seether, System Of A Down, GOdsmack, 40 Below Summer, Bloodsimple, Scars On Broadway... the list goes on.

There are some great bands out there that have caught my interest over the years, however, Metallica will always be the ultimate favorite (IMO). I can still pop in the CD "And Justice for All" and from start to finish the album still, to this day, gives me goose bumps.

I only listen to a few metal songs so I couldn't really say...

Black sabbath is my fav by a long way...

If you like metallica, give megadeth a go, they sound vaguely similar but much better IMO.

Depends on your definition of "metal". Disturbed, System of a down and Godsmack are consider by some to be "Nu-Metal"...still love em tho..

However the bands that tops on my list is Iron Maiden. Since 1980 they've been awesome..and their newer stuff..though sounding different from their early stuff...still is awesome..metallica on the other hand...yea...not at all...Megadeth rocks as well.

I don't listen to that kinda metal, so my recommendations probably wouldn't help you.

My tastes tend to be newer metal.

All That Remains, Arch Enemy, As I Lay Dying, Atreyu, Avenged Sevenfold (lots of A's LOL), Bullet For My Valentine, Disturbed, Dragonforce, Killswitch Engage, Kittie, Trivium, and Walls Of Jericho.
