I think its incredibly fun.

So i would actually agree, its the best fps ever.

I had more fun with Killzone 2 than i have with any other fps.

Killzone 2 is pretty good, but its definately not the best single or multi-player experience. When I play it, the developer has done some pretty good work, however the level design etc isn't quite up to the standard of developers who consistantly produce AAA shooters such as Bungie, Valve, Infinity Ward and Epic. It does give me some good things to look forward to for the next game.

Infinity ward ? i haven't played other halos than the first (which i didn't like so i won't comment on bungie) but the call of duty games doesn't exacly have very good online maps. They are inconsistent in quality. Killzone 2's online hangs with every company you mentioned up there.. because it's really good. I'm not gonna say better. But it's worth mentioning in the same sentence.

The real test for the online is how many people will play it in 6 months or 12 months time. Hype can get people to buy a game, quality will get them to keep playing it.

I haven't played the game but I will be delighted if it's even as good as CoD4.

But best FPS ever? Come on now... It will take more than a retread of a genre to reach the elite category of Half-Life, System Shock, Deus Ex, etc... Especially the original Half-Life. That game radically changed the way we think about FPS.

This is what I've been thinking.

That is true, however to me it seems like they really managed to create an awesome online experience. Who knows, it might get dull later on. But for now, it's great.. :P

Which is why "best FPS ever" should not be thrown around less than a week after release.

They are actually already in development of new maps and etc for multiplayer...his has been spoken of in Gamespot....Now all they have to do is deliver on the promise...

It's highly doubtful that Sony will let this games online become dull after a couple of months....they are trying to make this franchise like the Halo for the Ps3...and we all know that Halo keeps on updating their online constantly...

Sony knows this and they will not let Killzones online fail

It has a better single player than I expected from the reviews. Certainly no CoD4 SP though. It has a very fun multiplayer game, but wasn't as fun as Goldeneye was. This is a AAA game, and all the parts together, I can see ranking it in the top 15 or 20 FPS games released on a console. Beyond that, you lose me. It's not as good as CoD4 or Bioshock in any way, shape, or form, imho, but it is good. I think the OP is seeing it with rose colored glasses because it just came out, it's great, and it's fresh. We, as humans, always do this. A solid 9/10 AAA shooter with the possible notation of "fantastic visuals." I'd give it a 9.2 or 9.3 if I had to get specific.

It's worse than MGS4, Fallout 3, SMG, CoD4, Bioshock, Vesperia, EBA, Persona 4, Valkyria, GTAIV, Braid, Orange Box, and LBP so far this generation. It's equivalent to Gears 1/2, and better than Fable 2, and most other stuff like that.

I enjoyed it alot, as you can tell. Keep in mind who is reviewing this.

To comment on the seldom held and soon to die out opinion that KZ2 is the best FPS of all time:

Rubbish. You ruin your credibility with statements like that. The kind of ruination that you can never regain.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

No it is not. Better FPSs have been out for many years before this. That is all.

just picked this up even though i originally didn't intend to (that EB games promo was too good to pass up). I'll give my impressions later (for the record i thought this game wouldn't be that good, I definately wasn't hyping it). OP, you are setting the bar ridiculously high regardless.

Well I'm not one of those people on the killzone hype train, but after messing around with the multiplayer for about an hour, so far I'm impressed. I don't have enough of an impression to say whether it will be the next cod4, but it's definitely got a good start.

The control feels spot on, slower but not sluggish. I never thought to myself "damn this is slow" while I was playing. I adjusted my sensitivity up a couple notches and aiming feels fine, will probably take it up again next time. And movement feels just fine, a bit slow at first but after the action heated up a bit I didn't notice.

But it really just feels spot on. This is not sloppy multiplayer in anyway. I've only been playing on two maps thus far but they are fantastic. a great combination of simplicity and complexity. They aren't so rudimentary that they feel flat and boring, but they aren't so complex that you have to play on them for a couple hours just to feel halfway comfortable. They have good lay outs, that are fun and provide a variety of situations and gameplay types.

The constantly switching objectives are great and implemented waaay better than the lack luster Resistance 2. The moments between objectives are sometimes tense and sometimes a relief. The calm before the storm when everybody is regrouping. The action feels fast and chaotic, but without ever making you feel that it's out of control and there is nothing you can contentiously do.

I haven't got any experiences with the classes since I am still just a grunt. I did a couple matches with bots to get acclimated and then jumped in for a couple rounds online. The bots work well and are fun. They aren't idiots and they use their class abilities well. Setting up turrets to defend key points in search and destroy, putting down the gas grenade spawn points in good locations. They will be good to practice with sometimes. I could see myself going to the skirmish mode just to chillax with some bot fights every now and again, and I will definitely use it to learn the maps better.

All in all, so far so good. I can't predict the future or anything, but if I was forced to bet money I would bet that this game will still be going strong by next year. It's a tight, well crafted multiplayer that feels both exciting and satisfying to play.
