Forums - Gaming Discussion - Dead Space 2 in the works.

EA studio Redwood Shores has confirmed that a new Dead Space will be coming to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC at some point in the future.

Glen Schofield, general manager of EA's Redwood Shores studio in San Francisco, let it slip that the studio is not only working on Dead Space Extraction for the Wii, but that a PS3/360/PC sequel is also in the works.

Schofield told Gamesindustry.biz:

"We haven't announced anything yet, but I don't think you take a game that's rated 89 and just go, 'Well, that was a failure'.

"And you know what, we'll figure that out, because the hardest thing is the quality. If you figure out the quality, then at some point we're going to figure out how to get that out there."

In the same interview, Schofield argued that the games industry needs to rethink its release date strategies

Yup kind of what I figured. Work on a sequel for the HD version and give the Wii a lazy ON-Rails port of the series. Not that it matters I am not really a target for this game but at some point game companies are going to have to stop playing follow the leader.

Awesome!

Take my love, take my land..

Lame, it isn't on-rails.

So what did EA learn from their business failure so far?

I guess the word would be nothing. It is good that fans of the original will be able to play the real sequel though.

EA SPORTS Tennis (working title) - Summer

So basically EA are trying to make quick money with a cheap Wii spin-off game (which won't be necessarily bad) just to release a sequel on the HD consoles & PC.

kinda reminds me of Dead Rising.....

Great, can´t wait.

Tbone: You really should try Dead Space. For me, one of the best games, which I played.

Why are all companies doing the same with the Wii? The main titles remain in the HD console and they launch ports and on-rail shooters on the Wii so this way, a gamer that is interested on the game will have to buy the sequel on the HD console. Here are some examples:

Wii tittle (remake, port, poor effort) HD title (Great game)
____________________________ __________________

Resident Evil 4, Umbrella Chronicles --------------> Resident Evil 5
Dead Rising Wii ----------------------------------------> Dead Rising 2
Dead Space Extraction -------------------------------> Dead Space 2
Overlord -------------------------------------------------> Overlord 2

Which one is next? Maybe they are going to launch a Bioshock remake or on-rails on the Wii due to the launching of Bioshock 2 on HD consoles? Or Imagine being Mass Effect so this way the user buys Mass Effect 2?
Come on! That is enough 3rd parties! Take the console leader seriously if you want to succeed!!!!!!!
