well it could increase but if it gets to like 10 million im sure sony will be aware and may be forced to cut the price to remain competitive. if sony do that then it will go the other way round. sony must be planing when they can cut the price and what else they could do. we already know they have a crazy lineup for the ps3 this year.

Should hit 10 million at least

This is really hard, to many factors.

I would say the flip point will be somewhere around 15 - 19 million.

If the 360 hits that:

A) The lead will increase at a very high rate and the final total will only be determined by the 360's life cycle. The PS3 will be a more or less dead console.

B) Sony pulls something out or their ass to stay in it and starts to shrink the lead, but will probably never catch up (5 to 9 million behind)


You never really know, the PS3 could do something amazing and start to shrink the lead now. If that is the case, it will be a battle to the end.

probrably 10M by the end of the year

Along with most others, I am guessing it will reach 10 million at the end of the year. Then the rest really depends on Sony.

If Sony decides to do very little to turn things around and some how the lead grows to atleast 13 million then things will really start to slide in the direction of the 360.

9 Max

The 360 is outselling it by about 50k each week and a PS3 price drop seems to be right around the corner if you ask any analysts

 The reason you have every analyst saying the price drop is right around the corner is because that seems to be the only way for the PS3 to become more than competative and actually start catching up. Just because that will put more PS3s in peoples hands does not necessarly mean that it is feasible for Sony to do it, or that it will make them more money.

While a price drop would be great for the market, it could also be the death nail for Sony. They are walking a fine line at the moment.

Who knows the mass market doesn't follow logic.

I say it will peak at 10.5 million then it will drop back down and eventually the PS3 will beat the 360 within 1.5 to 2 years.

I see 2 scenarioes:

• Sony can ill afford to let the 360 get too far out ahead, and will get more aggressive as the 360 approaches a 10M unit lead, closing the gap again.
• Sony's bad financial situation prevents them from mounting a strong attack on Microsoft, and the 360 continues to grow, pulling further and further away, limited only by what Microsoft can manage.
