From a basic standpoint, both Killzone 2 and Gears 2 look about equal to me. Aside from the overblown and minor differences technically, I actually preferred the visual 'look' of Gears of War 2 better and actually to me its a better made game. Not in terms of fun, but looking at the design decisions and actual gameplay mechanics that Epic designed they seem to have a class which Killzone 2 does not match.

Considering that Gears and Killzone are both shooters, most of the design decisions can be compared. Its things like variety, level design, set pieces etc give Epic an edge but thats due to a massive experience difference between the two.

Killzone 2 destroys Gears 2...thats just a fact put both games next to eachother in your homes....you will be amazed

Both Gears of War and Killzone are what I would call "very good". I wouldn't class it as excellent as that category is reserved for a select few PC games I play such as Crysis.

Killzones' graphics seem a little 'off' to me because they use a lot of visual tricks to achieve the effect and they don't hide them as well as games like Uncharted and Gears of War. This comes down to a difference in experience and what each developer was trying to achieve.

One thing is certain with me, Gears has definitely better voice acting than Killzone. Listening to those soldiers on the cutscene saying everything so emotionlesly..ugh..

@Yana, I cringed every time Marcus opened his mouth. Seriously, I think even Rico was more tolerable until that incident than Marcus. The other voice acting for the main characters was a lot better as well.

Actually I would say I liked the KZ2 voice acting production value a lot. Aside from a couple of dry conversations they have some pretty good actors and the scottish Helghan troopers with the SMGs were hella funny. They also delivered a few decent lines as well.

Yana...I haven't played Killone 2 but the voice acting in Gears is atrocious. Is everyone meant to be a stereo-type? Marcus is the only one who has the cool factor, Cole is the worst of the worst stereo types and Dominic sounds weak.

Surely it can't get any worse in Killzone?!

Its because he was responsible for... and that was my favourite in the game.
