Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The Official Metroid Prime 3 Reviews Thread

I just phoned the Futureshop in my area. They don't think they will get the game until Wednesday. So much for playing the game on my day off.

The reviews I've seen are thorough enough for me. The only downside for me is lack of multiplayer to extend the life of the game but I have Gears of War for that. I've only played it once in like the last 4 months. I suck at it. My roommates girlfriend could own me in that game. She plays Gears like 5 hours a day. No joke.

Metroid isn't a very multiplayer friendly series. It would be kind of like making The Legend of Zelda multiplayer.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Stof...what system do you have i you don't have a Wii yet?

this game would have tens across the board if the multiplayer was present, no doubt about it.

"I don't believe anyone walks into a game store with $600 in their pocket and wonders what console to buy." -President of Worldwide studios Phil Harrison "Nintendo Wii has been a successful enterprise, and a very good business compared with ours, because it's cheaper." -Sony chairman and CEO Howard Stringer

Metroid would make a great Multiplayer with a bit of work. They proved it can be done on the DS and I am sure they will look at it in the future. So it is not unfamiliar territory for Metroid. If there is any game that allows Nintendo to ease into the multiplayer arena with an already established fanbase, it's Metroid. The setting in Metroid would also allow for some fantastic matches in very exotic alien locations.

Hey stof what game are you waiting for before you buy a Wii? Or is it a money issue?

Anyone playing this game yet? I think I will call around today. Also I don't think Retro's next project will be Metroid. I predict this game will take a break for a couple of years. They will still brainstorm some ideas but I would like to see them tackle the Icarus franchise. They've earned it.

Actually, I'd like to see them take on Donkey Kong. Imagine a DK64-esque adventure/platformer with Metroid Prime-quality art design, environments, puzzles, boss fights, etc. My pants would be wet with 2-4 different liquids.

Retro have earned the right to either come up with an original IP if they want to, or otherwise step up to what was traditionally an even bigger Nintendo franchise than Metroid. Kid Icarus should go to an up-and-coming studio, just like Metroid originally went to Retro 6 or 7 years ago.

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.

Well I'd hope so.  Dual analog sticks sucks hard for shooters.  It's the worst control mechanism I've seen people accept.
