Short but sweet impressions so far:

Best first person experience/shooter on Wii. Best Looking Wii game, no where near 360/PS3 but I wasn't expecting that.

Perfect Balance of Metroid-type isolation and other newer elements to the series. Which is the key to why I don't agree with any of the reviews, all of them said more of the same. This feels like something that hasn't been done in Metroid before and it's done well. This game is a 9+ by all standards I know. I see myself playing it through several times (which I don't do often with games).

The only "epic" gaming experience that I have been able to truly enjoy since I was a teen, before this the closest was LoZ or FF.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Oh, and I completely agree with you.  It's struck a perfect balance between exploration and combat that the others were lacking.  This is without a doubt the best Metroid Prime game in my mind, and I can't believe how much I'm enjoying it.  I mean, it's so good that review scores are just completely meaningless.  Anyone who plays it will immediately understand.

I will get a review soon [soon = by next November]. CURSE YOU NOE.

It is a hardcore game through and through. You will get your ass kicked by bosses. You will be stumped by the sometimes complex, but never overbearing, exploration.

A brilliant game, the first boss battle with Ridley was breathtaking. I truly pity those who choose to avoid the Wii and this masterpiece.

Finally the Wii has shown us that it too is the master of the FPS controls as well.

What is wrong with people comparing this game to HALO. This is pissing me off. You do not compare Samus to Megaman just because both heroes have robot-like suits and use charged shots. The singleplayer experience is not even close and ...
Halo single player suck ...
there I said it. Flamewar will start in T minus 20 sec.
I can take comparisons to Bioshock, but Halo is not even a good FPS to be compared to all games of that genre released.

HAHAHAHAHAHA, you are so wrong, Halo is an incredible game, I don't like the multiplayer that much, I know is excellet but I prefer RB6:V and GRAW, but the single player on Halo is excellent, remember that when Halo 1 was lunched there was not enough people to play on line. So maybe you are right and 14 millon people is wrong!!!!

Okay, since there are a few people uner the delusion that Halo had a good campaign, I'm going to tell you all the things that sucked about it. The gameplay was okay, and I did finish it more than once (sometimes I'm in the mood for mindless alien fragging), so I do have some idea of what I'm evaluating. I haven't played Halo 2, so I'm only commenting on the original.

1. Zero Bosses in the Entire Game: Not a single one. There are some tough enemies, and tough rooms, but not a single battle which felt epic. The only thing close to a boss fight is the escape at the end. This makes the gameplay feel very tedious, when all you're doing is killing the same trash you've killed a hundred times before. You just fight a little more cautiously when they use trash that's a little harder. You don't need to learn any specialized tactics after you learn when best to throw grenades and duck behind cover.

2. Story, or Lack Thereof: There are about four characters in the entire game, unless you count Foehammer who doesn't have a face. Of those four, only 343 Guilty Spark has any history whatsoever. Only the non-humans have any personality (ironic, isn't it?), and there is no character development in anybody. There's a skeleton of a plotline, which is mostly just used to describe mission objectives.

3. Linear Gameplay: Like most modern shooters, in order to ensure that the player doesn't have to worry about anything other than aiming his next shot, Halo is an extremely linear game. Personally, I don't enjoy being herded like a sheep, and this game feels like one big corral. There's one mission when you first land on Halo that lets you pick which of three objectives you go to first, and there are a couple times when you have to retrace your steps, but the latter feels more like lazy level design, which brings me to my next point.

4. Terrible Level Design: You're on a Covenant battle cruiser. Will the room behind the door be a big hanger, or just more corridors with dead doors? How exciting! Or maybe you're in the featureless guts of Halo itself, killing dozens of flood until you lose track of which way is forward and which way is back. Not all the levels are this bad, but the bad ones are soooooo looooooong.

Conclusion: Don't delude youself into thinking Halo's contribution to gaming was its campaign. Halo's contribution was very good (for the time) FPS controls on a console, coupled with excellent multiplayer. The alien-blasting gameplay was solid, and cool vehicles broke up some of the monotony of killing another room full of flood or another twitchy Covenant Elite. If the game had been single-player campaign only, it probably would have been worth 8/10.

Edit: One more point which didn't occur to me before.

 5. No upgrade path: Some might consider this a feature, rather than a bug, but Halo has essentially no upgrade path. There are two powerups you can get and the shotgun and rocket launcher are powerful weapons which aren't available early in the game, but there's no long term upgrade system for weapons or durability or mobility. The Master Chief who lands on Halo is the same Master Chief who flys off it. Most shooters which preceeded it at least gave the player a broader, if improbable, array of carried weapons to use as the game progressed. Halo's 2 weapon system really did streamline the multiplayer aspect, though.

@Shams Don't worry about what Andy says, he has had dificulty dealing with change for the last three years he's been on staff. I've disagreed with his reviews more than any other reviewer at GI, because he seems to like games that fall with in his niche (RTS, RPG, MMO) and others not from that grouping tend to get balked if they change the formula from what he is used to. That being said and him being such a huge massive world fan (ie. RPG MMO) it's not suprising that he knocks the game for not having a huge gigantic world like the previous two.

Also, I have been playing the game for over 7 hours now and I can safely say that the exploration aspect of the game is emmense. I won't speculate if the formula has changed because I've never played the first two. There is however, plenty of backtracking, especially if you want to get all the pick-ups.
The best thing about the streamlined exploaration is that you use your ship to go to the different areas which IMHO makes way more sense than a bunch of elevators.

Anyways, I could go on for hours talking about what I like about this game, but I'd rather be playing it.

Argh! The too easy bit was a load of crap too. I'm playing on veteran (haven't even unlocked Hyper yet) and I have died to this damn boss 6 times.  I had to take a break.  Speaking of bosses, these boss fights are unbelievably awesome.  I wish you could see like an overhead camera recording of the fight after it's over.  Some of these are just crazy.

The game is a bit more linear than the others.  It doesn't feel like a hive as much as the other ones do.  This makes it a little easier to not get lost (and the map much more organized).  Of course because of how much more diverse the environments are, it's hard to really care.  That doesn't mean every area isn't filled to the brim with hidden puzzles and items though.  You will have to backtrack everywhere if you really want everything.  You will still feel like your all alone on a creepy and wonderous planet, and that's what's important.  The experience is so much more immersive that even with a more linear area design you are going to feel much more attached and connected to the areas you are exploring.  Because it's a bit more linear, it almost feels a little more like Zelda.  Those who do like Zelda dungeons will surely like this game.

naznatips, from all the things you are saying about the game so far, it seems that Retro Studios managed to do what I thought would be close to impossible:

Improve the series with Corruption as much (or maybe even more) over Echoes, as Echoes was improved over the first Prime.

I should add that after playing Echoes multiple times just like the first Prime I felt that Prime should get its rating reduced by 10 %. The details changed in the second game made it that much better.

Prime can be seen as the prototype for the Metroid series in 3D, Echoes was the more polished successor and Corruption seems to be close to perfection.

That's exactly how I feel about this game.  It's as close to perfection as you can ever ask of a developer, and it's managed to surpass it's own origins.  It's found the perfect gameplay balance and become truly what the Prime series should be.  Really, it's what all adventure games should be.  In my mind there is a new standard for the adventure genre, and I really hope that other developers in the future take note of how well designed MP3 really is.
