Forums - Gaming Discussion - Your 3 biggest disappointments of this generation?

1) The entire PS3 launching debacle.

a) Pricing
b) Unattainable Hype mongering.
c) The powa of the Cell
d) Removing the B/C
e) Lack of games the first year of the PS3's life.

2) RROD- Ony god knows how popular the 360 would be without this troublesome fiasco. I am certain the Wii would still be on top but I think it would be much much closer in terms of overall console sales. Even though the RROD is mostly behind them M$ still has to eat shit daily for this mess.

3) Fanboy Hate- I know there have always been fanboys for whichever console they like. This isn't really a problem. What I hate is how it seems for this generation they seem to have so much more hate than anytime before. Loving your console is good, hating the other guys just because it is not like yours is bad!!

1. Ninja Gaiden II - The follow up to my favorite game of the previous generation that I found to be extremely boring.
2. Perfect Dark Zero - Bought a 360 at launch after reading Gamespots glowing review. Regreted my purchase until Oblivian (then was pretty happy!)
3. Twilight Princess - Couldn't even finish it.

Bolded part isn't possible...unless your tastes changed. NG2 is a better version of NG1...

What, so you just think I made it up?  Pretty sure its possible, because, in my opinion, it was completely disappointing.  I even replayed the first as Sigma and still loved it, but NG2 was just so...mediocre.  You say NG2 is a better version of NG1, I say NG2 is a watered down version of NG1.

Ninja Gaiden 2 doesn't have near as good puzzles or platforming as NG1 did. Other then that, it does everything better. And calm down. Disolitude isn't trying to bite you.

...Ninja Gaiden had puzzles?

I haven't really been disappointed by this generation, except for two things...

1. Lack of certain Virtual Console titles. Give me my Ogre Battle and Majora's Mask and EarthBound, Nintendo! God, please, any of them. Please!

2. No Mother 3 localization. Dang.

1. The Wii with it's shovelware
2. RROD killing off millions of consoles
3. Blu-Ray not a neccesity

1. PS3....I could go into this but really it is the biggest disappointment because it doesn't measure up to ps2 in terms of games I like. (I do not hate the ps3, just disappointed)

2. PSP new model each year....I hated and continue to hate apple for doing this and I am disappointed if sony continues to do this. (I will be okay if this was every 3 years or hell even 2 years, but every year annoys me)

3. Square Enix overall....well this is two generations worth....they declined since they released FFX-2 and the only great game that comes to mind since that time is "The World Ends With You!" (Note: I do not include Tri:Ace or remakes in this)

First off...when wasn't I calm? I said I was disappointed in the game, he said thats impossible, I said, well, I WAS, so I guess it is possible. I don't recall being at the edge of a cliff threatening to jump at any point in that conversation. Secondly, as I said...I LOVED Ninja Gaiden. It got be back into gaming, in all honesty. I hadn't played anything other than "Madden" for about 4 years. Then I bought an XBOX and NG, and ever since I can't quit buying games.

Then I bought NG2, and I was disappointed and bored.  I'm sorry, but I was.  I'm glad you found almost everything better about it, but isn't this thread about opinion?  About what each person was disappointed in?  I don't see how there can be a wrong answer, but you two seem to be telling me I'm wrong.

Ninja Gaiden had many difficult puzzles. A few  of them I had to FAQ to beat. Ninja Gaiden 2 only had very simple puzzles. >_<

@epicurean: Its the internet. Thats how people sound on the internet. I consider NG2 to be lightyears better then NG1 and Sigma, ESPECIALLY in battle system. (NGB was great, even though it was a rehash. Its a struggle between Black and NG2 for my top. Great combat vs. Good combat and great puzzles.). Thats my opinion. You have another opinion, and I never said it was wrong. Good to see NG helped you back into gaming though; too bad Itagaki isn't heading it anymore. I'm afraid for the franchise now personally :/

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

Care to list what was worse? I am not saying that it isn't possible for you to like the game less then the first one...because your tastes may have changed since. Happens to me all the time. I used to enjoy Zelda games more then any other games around... but Zelda TP couldn't even play for more than 5 hours...I am just not in to those games anymore, but I do not think Zelda TP is terrible compared to previous zelda games.

All I am saying is that NG2 did pretty much everything better than part 1. Combat was better and more hectic, visuals were better, sound was better...game was longer, had less backtracking. The whole replenishing of health between fights was awesome...

You could argue that boss fights were worse in part 2 compared to part 1... and story and camera angles sucked but those sucked in part 1 as well.

- Sony's fake promises in conjunction with bully marketing policy - overall down in credibility.
- Square Enix development and management stupidity.
- PSP (if you count this as current generation).

The most agreeable 3 points in this thread IMO.

360 IS OPERATIONAL AFTER 37 DAYS!

no marvel vs capcom 3.

1. Wii- could of been so much more

2. RROD- i would own a 360 if this didnt happen

3. Sonys Advertisment- laughable and not near enough
