"January 2009 update: After rumors circulating on the internet, Rockstar confirmed that there would be no GTA5 in 2009. While most companies don’t respond to rumors, Rockstar probably thought it would damage sales of their two upcoming GTA4 downloadable episodes (the 1st in February, the 2nd in October), which they are still working on. As a result 2010 is looking more logical for GTA5."

Location

There's no information that i've found on the location of GTA 4 but here are the historical locations, i've tried to get them in order but I might be wrong

Grand Theft Auto 1

Liberty City

London

Grand Theft Auto 3

Vice City

San Andreas

Chinatown

Grand Theft Auto 4

Liberty City

Based on the historical information , GTA games are usualy based in urban and relativley built up and wealthy locations which could rule out quite a few undeveloped countries s .... i'm guessing it could be Tokyo or London but it's really anyones guess.

Exclusivity

I think it'll be multiplatform unless Rockstar really feel they can't work with the DVD anymore , of course money talks more than specifications do.

""One of the problems with the 360, and it affects games like Grand Theft Auto if you think about how much content we put in the actual machine, is the fact that they don't have a significantly larger storage medium than the previous systems. It's a slightly bigger DVD disc," Houser told 1up."

Features

I thik GTA 5 will be more arcadey than GTA 4 was , I think it'll return back to it's roots with parachutes , purchasable homes , less gritty and dark possibly . Alot of the best things about san andreas where either messed up ( phone calls every 5 FRIGGIN MINUTES , I don't wanna date ffs or get killed every time I crash my bike ).

Sales

If Rockstar fails to innovate I think their sales will fall short of GTA 4's which is at 12.19m ( but could very well end up at 13.5-14.5 or possibly even more , i'm not sure how well this GTA's legs will be) one thing I think might be certain is that it'll never meet San andreas's 19.65 M , it apears that the GTA franchise will continue to decline without something new and refreshing added into the mix , i'm guessing it'll do 7-9 million lifetime if things continue as they have done.

Any other hunches , ideas , requests you might have for GTA 5 guys ?

RELEASE:

2010 is too early.  2011 more likely.

Isn't there supposed to be more DLC for GTA IV? (4 in total) 2 which will be available for both PS3 and 360.  There was some rumour/speculation about this!

LOCATION:

Expect something completely new, maybe not set in America!

I would really like to see strong cultural differences in the game world.

Size of game could be bigger than one city.

EXCLUSIVITY:

Wasnt there a rumour that GTA 5 would be PS3 exclusive due to its size it would only fit on a BD!  Its possible that game will be significantly bigger, but I do not think it will be an exclusive as there is too much money to be made.

FEATURES:

More stuff to buy/own clothes, houses, businesses, apartments.  Surely planes will be back in!

SALES

Should be strong.

The engine was the RAGE engine, first used in Table Tennis, so I think they have already recycled the engine before, and they have recovered all the costs anyway

I can't imagine that the version or specification of the engine used to make GTA 4 was the same for the table tennis game Rockstar made but then I don't really have a lot of technical knowledge regarding that. Businesss isn't just about recovering cost's , Rockstar aren't making GTA games because they feel like it , they are doing it to make a profit and re-using resources wherever possible reduces overheads and maximimises profitability.

We'd probably already have GTA 7 by now if it wasn't cheap to simply make expansions.

Well I love vice city, but there already were two GTA that took place over there, so it would be a little boring to get back there again. I don't want tokyo neither because of yakuza. London would be perfect or another typical european city like paris, rome or amsterdam.

I also think it will be an PS360 game but with no DLC content this time.

Release date: june 2010.

GTA: Tokyo

Featuring Yakuza

First really big selling GTA game in Japan

I think Tokyo would be the best setting for this game. I also think that Rockstar should have a poll with a list of cities, and let the users decide which city they would like.

I hope they don't do it for this game, as that would mean they have not started work yet! Hopefully they can do it for future games, though the larger the city the more likely it is to win (though NYC might not get such an advantage or even be a contestant)

the thing i'd dislike about gta tokyo would be the lack of ethnic diversity in the gangs , they'd all be culturaly similar I think.

I dont see why people complain about GTA 4's driving mechanics...sorry but I loved the fact that driving was more realistic than say the last generation of GTA games...Games like Saints Row 2 driving are horribly unrealistic...yet the game is still fun though...

As for improvements I would love to see would be...better Garages...the ones in GTA 4 were horrible and they sometimes erased my cars :(....

They should add a whole lot more side missions than they had....the game should be wayyyyyy longer...they should basically return back to San Andreas ways but with the realistic driving added to it...

I would like to see a new location though for the GTA series...I dont want to go back to Vice City or San Andreas...they Should try to make a game based on cities like Hong Kong or Tokyo...that would be cool to me imo

Vice City. I love the 80s. San Andreas was wayyy to damn ghetto.

I would love to see a mini-state kinda thing that they did in San Andreas. It would be cool if it was a somewhat fake state that has three or four main cities based on Liberty, Vice, *Insert two more* cities with countryside in between.

GOD that would be sweet.
