Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Does the xbox 360 upscale DVD's?

Does the xbox 360 upscale DVD's? This is something I've been wondering, as I have been using my xbox 360 as a dvd player the past couple months, so I could use my HD TV Monitor. The picture looks crisper... But I don't know if that's just the TV doing it.

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... Around the Network

Yes, over HDMI and VGA.

It doesn't over component. There's actually a handy little chart somewhere on xbox.com that shows all the possible resolution combinations.

Alright, thanks.

imo upscaled dvd`s look worse for some reason.

upscaling doesnt bring more detail.

It might be because your TV does a much better job upscaling than your 360 in which case it is better to leave the 360 on 480p and leave the TV to do the upscaling to its native resolution.

That is weird because when I put a DVD on my (composite 1080i connected) 360, the screen swith to 576p mode (??).

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

Ive never noticed a difference....

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

Component you mean right?

HDMI is required for 720p-1080i.

Component can upscale to 480p or 576p in your case.
