It's also quite amusing how 360 fans seem to be tolerant about the length of the cutscenes yet the same group said mgs4 was a movie. In mgs4 at least you can pause the cutscenes (except the mission briefings which I think you can still pause with the "PS" button but I'm not sure)

actually I don't see anyone saying they are glad there are long cutscenes.  In fact I think its a stupid idea.  No cutscene should ever last more than 5 or 10 minutes unless its the end of the game.

Was Metal Gear Solid 30-40 hours without optional content?

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

MGS4 was 8 hours of trash with at most half being gameplay, that game made me determined for developers to never get a penny from me again. :(

That is why I only rent games, also helps that I get to play as many games as I want for £15 a month. :P

Or the end of a disc, which I believe is the case of SO4. But 45min is too long for the 1st disc if true. SO1 and SO2 didn´t have any long cutscenes like that, they were actually too short.

Thats a good score. Its seems today people think exclusives that get below high 80's are bad (or at least disappointing) and we've forgotten that 80 is still a great score.

No, but it also wasn't a JRPG so it was hardly expected of it like it is with SO4

So Valkyria Chronicles remains the highest rated JRPG on HD consoles ! GO VC !!!

As for Star Ocean review it quite confirms the impression I've got form the videos : except from the battle system, there is little incetive to play the game.

I love VC but its not officially the highest rated JRPG because Tales of Vesperia did not come out in EU yet and both Metacritic and Gamerankings add review scores from reviewers in both EU and America.TOV could get a higher score or the the current score it has know could go down.

Assuming that the EU release lets ToV go from 36 reviews it has now to the 55 reviews that VC has now having released in all regions ToV would have to average 98% on the 19 reviews that came in for it to go from the 81 it is at currently to the 87 that VC is at.  Just ain't happening dude.

These calculations ignore Meta's weighting system, but it gives you an idea of just how unlikely it is that ToV will pass VC with more reviews coming in.

No, but its a shooter, with a much more important story. MGS games are very story centric, and in all jRRGs, you expect very long games, with quite a diluted story, as it has to last that long. So you don't want to watch 40 mins cut scenes when the story is not so important

This is disappointing. The pacing and presentation of the story as well as the characters is very important to me in an rpg. Still getting it but...
