Forums - Microsoft Discussion - 2009 games - or the lack thereof.

I would definitely wait until after the GDC to start posting threads about this... I would be surprised if Microsoft doesn't have at least one really strong announcement then. There are also a lot of third party games which haven't had dates nailed down yet which will be exclusive to the 360.

I do have a slight fear that Microsoft might feel like they have enough of a lead over Sony that they can focus on casual games, and spend less on their main game developers. But if it ends up looking that way later in the year, people will complain, and the Games Division has a good record of listening to their fans.

Peter Molyneux already mentioned he will announce something at GDC in regards to future projects. And Im interested to see what Kojima will say and its already reported his next project is multiplatform console.

As for Microsoft, they already booked a definite date for E3 09 (a confident sign of intention) and its already reported they will 'break the bank' and look further into the future. I dont see how anyone can doubt MS can pull surprises after their recent showings.

As for the argument regarding exclusives, I sometimes fail to understand why the number of exclusives is important. If I look at the upcoming games Im interested in this year alone on the 360, its massive. It doesnt have to be exclusive (although there are quite a few notable announced exclusives already). The console is still selling very healthily and MGS has just hired some big names in gaming.

Also on a side note, I think during these hard economic times, a slight respite on the pocket will definitely be welcomed. Churning out your major exclusive system sellers at times when people are pinching pennies is something publishers and developers need to address more now.

I predict that the Xbox 360 is going to have the best console lineup ever in the history of console lineups.

In essence everything Microsoft sells is better than everything any other console offers!

Well isn't that how annoying fanboys do it?

Have you seen what those keynote are about? Something tells me the only one we may see game teases in is molyneux's

The epic combination of 'Wu' and 'Yu' will show us the way. I haven't even been able to decide on the order of the name if they were to be combined.

Wu-Yu?

Yu-Wu?

Im extremely excited by their last names, so the content these two people will bring is sure to be impressive.

Tease.

This is so NOT an issue for the vast majority of gamers. There are so many great games to play until the next great game comes along.
I really don't want to see a constant stream of hype only for the games to meet the inevitable delays. It gets boring real quick.
Being patient has it's own rewards!

Playing: Borderlands(great co-op,HUGE amount of content),Too Human(better late than never lol),Saints Row 3(Penetrator ftw),Minecraft 360,Harry Potter Lego.

Patiently waiting for:  Tomb Raider, Borderlands 2

Yu, Wu, Molyneux.

Looks like M$ has some definite engine development going on in the Halo Studios department.  Multi-core specific engine development going on with the new Halo engine.

And yes, it appears M$ will probably focus on a lot of casual entertainment this year.  Probably revolving around teh NXE.

There's enough awesome multi-platform titles coming out this year to keep me busy enough without a ton of exclusive titles. I couldn't care less if a game is exclusive or not as long as I get plenty of good games to play. Remember exclusive games really only matter for bragging rights on internet forums. Theres tons of games coming in 09 even if they aren't all "Only on xbox 360"

a million shipped is different to a million sold. Through heavy bundling in the US & EU yes they shipped 1 million copies, but the title never broke the top 10 NPD nor if I recall correctly the UK ELSPA charts. It was a flop sales-wise.

That's almost 2 million now according to this website.

And it wasn't heavily bunded in US.

I'd say it was a success both critical-wise and sale-wise.

Thats pretty exciting!

If their casual stuff works then GREAT! More games for me... xD

Tease.

I'm not concerned at all, seriously in what year has the 360 ever been devoid of good games??

They'll be announced soon enough.

Besides, Alan Wake looks big and is probably coming out this year.

The year it launched ? ;) Perfect Dark Zero, Kameo were both "meh". Call of Duty 2 *saved* the launch for me, even with the rather weak multiplayer and luckily we had Geometry Wars as a AAA Arcade title.

This year still seems really good so far even though I like the Wii the best so far this year.

- The Rest of Feb- Star Ocean, Stoked for Feb as 360 and PC exclusives

-  March - Halo Wars (exclusive), RE 5, Stormrise (360 exclusive?), Raiden Fighter Aces (retro for the win!)

- April - Ninja Blade, Riddick

-Sometime this year-  Splinter Cell Conviction, Halo 3 ODST, Bioshock 2 along with the two killer multiplatform games Tekken and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2.

I don't know about you but that's enough for me. Do we really need more then a dozen games that will most likely rate over 85% a year? I have a Wii and DS, so It's not like I can afford more then 12 games a year - at full price anyways. I pre-ordered SFIV and RE5 and will probably do the same for Riddick, Splinter Cell and ODST.

Edit: I also forget the high possibility of Forza 3 hitting this year with the rumor of the "EU thrillah!" being Forza 3. IMHO Forza 2 >GT Prologue, don't know about the full GT5 obviously.

It's just that simple.
