Never said I wanted the game canned. But, why not just make it into a FPS?

Have to change too much, prolly redo the whole thing.

They really wouldn't have to reprogram all that much.  Many video games have gone through much more drastic overhauls.  If it means the game will be more successful why not take a few extra months and potencially have exponencially better sales?

Well, we don't know that we will get more sales. Just because we are upset does not mean the sales go down. Anyways,. they would prolly have to redo the engine for this as it is a rails game, downgrade textures if they were maximized for a rails world, scrap some of the areas and expand on the ones they are putting more content in. This is alot to do if they want to hit their release date.

Tough luck. Get over it. When you bought your wii, you should have known what product you were buying and what games would be available for such product. I knew exactly what I was getting when I bought my wii, a good bit of amazing games with great controls that both were and will be coming out and then a bunch of carnivalish games and lousy ports. But if you wanted to play the version of Dead Space on the 360 and PS3 you should have bought one of those systems to play it. EA never lied to you, never said it was porting that game, it's your own fault for thinking they would. The quality of this title can still be great, but if you wanna whine because it's not a TPS just don't buy it don't act like someone stole your lolipop when you were five over it. Sheesh.

If the game stays as-is I'd say slightly over a million for sales.  If they switch it to a TPS game like most poeple want and release it in time for the holidays I'd say double sales.

The point is people on the wii want to play a 3rd person shooter with the wiimote. I have a 360 and don't want to play it there.

And my point is, when you bought your wii did you see any TPS games coming out? I don't think so. Furthermore, EA never claimed this was going to be, you yourself put that stupid thought into your head. It's rediculous to complain to EA for that. Along with EA, go complain to every other publisher about their games not being TPSs too. When I bought my Wii, I saw the trends that were going on and knew what I was getting into and I don't blame anyone else for it. While the public has adopted the wii, developers haven't. Developers want to push graphics and the technical side as much as they can. That's what developers have done through time and why developers begin to make games, technically they like to push the boundaries as much as they can. The only thing publishers are going to want to publish is cash ins and ports so they can then get your money and then use it to make next generation games and push the evelope. If you want to bitch to someone, bitch at Nintendo for limiting the technical capabilities of the system to what they are now. When the next wii comes out and is in HD it will blow away the competition, and rightfully so, but until then we got what we payed for.

We saw RE4:Wii, we saw it had excellent controls, we saw it sell really well. I do expect more good third person horror/shooter/survival etc., it's just a matter of time.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

www.xnagg.com/zombieasteroids/publish.htm

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Yes, and it was a port of a last gen game. It would be much harder to port a next gen title to the wii then a last gen game. As I said, a majority of developers don't want to develope for the wii. And this is what we get. It's much faster and cheaper to make this game a on rails shooter. Even then, the game looks of high quality. Like I said though, they want to push something out now rather then later, take your money and get to developing what THEY want to devlope. It's a trend that's been going on since the launch of the wii.

What message?!?
The trailer looks great, on rails games can be awesome (see Killer 7) and the original team is working on it (Redwood).

What the F is wrong with that?!? Yeah, sure people might have preferred a TPS, but this looks to become a quality product so I don't think there's anything to complain about.

Im with you, im all about giving this game a chance. It does look good, and i hope it will be quality.. but i cant help but agree with this statement from the OP "get the hint that Wii owners do NOT want a 'on rails shooter' version of Dead Space. Just like we did not want a 'On Rails' version of Resident Evil, a Fighting version of Castlevania, or an adventure version of Soul Calibur. "

Let put it this way. You are in the mood for a really good steak, you drive to a great steak restaraunt and what they put on your plate is a pretty good pizza. Even though the pizza is good, are you gonna tell me your not dissapointed by your lack of steakage?

I know its a silly analogy, but it pretty much gets my feelings across.

F@ck Ubisoft and their commitment to Wii shovelware.
