No, it's cool. You can just say yes or no and leave it at that. I'm just wondering because it's the only FPS/RPG hybrid I've ever heard of and people generally love it. This would be the first time I've heard anyone say it was a terrible blend of genre mashing.

I'm sorry to do this but how in the world did Persona 4, Valkyria Chronicles, and Tales of Vesperia get great scores?

And topic creator, just because someone doesn't think SO 4 is amazing and you think so (without even playing it) doesn't mean game reviewers are wrong.

Valkyria does have good scores. However the 81 for Vesperia (#102) is nothing special in a time where games like The Darkness, Marvel: UA, NFS: Most Wanted etc rank above it. It's clearly much harder for JRPGs to get good review scores. I'm not saying the OP is right about Star Ocean, it's just an observation that reviewers don't objectively score this genre. The IGN article about JRPGs comes to mind where they literally state that JRPG should evolve to WRPGs, while it's not the same genre at all. It's like saying that survival horror should evolve to 3rd person shooters (oh wait...).

Wow... did they really say that? That's the most retarded thing I've ever heard.

And by the way, survival horror meets 3rd person shooter is to me the worst blend of genres since... RPGs and FPSs.

But I believe reviewers did not like Deus Ex to much.It got alot of heat for bad voice acting, Thats Atlus for you

I think i'm going to focus more on readers reviews.The games I liked alot that reviewers gave a bad score on got high marks when it came to readers, Hack G.U for example.That game was awesome but reviewers gave it the lowest ratings.

I think you have the wrong game here. I'm talking about this PC game from 2000.

Maybe you're thinking of this game?

@Hack G.U. and .Hack in general, I think a lot of the backlash with those reviews comes from how they are shorter games broken up into multiple retail copies for full price when it's obvious they could have been packaged as one, or at best two games. I don't agree with how they did that either, because each game was only released 3 months apart, meaning it was basically done completely and they decided to do the customer dirty by making them purchase 4 different retail games at full price to get one complete game. I'd do my best to score that down also as a reviewer.
