I can't believe after all those years, Legend of Zelda: link to the past remains the most addictive game I played.

World of Warcraft hands down. I was heavily addicted to Red Alert 2, Warcraft 3, and a few console shooters like Goldeneye and Halo 3, but nothing compares to the life leeching time sink that is WoW. People have actually died playing that shit because of sleep deprivation.
Diablo 2 or Unreal Tournament 2004
The only way I beat the addiction was when my hardrive crashed and I the original install disc didn't work anymore.
Space Invaders. The hypnotic repetition, the hypnotic sound effects and the steady chime of coins dropping into a slot...
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
MechWarrior 4, with all of the expansions. Its sweet to try and limit yourself with what mechs you can use and see if you can still complete the game
World of Warcraft.
After that, any good turn-based strategy features what I call the Bottomless Pit of One More Turn.

I must have played and beat that game with every race twice..
it sucked up about a month of my life until I got bored..
