What accessories do you need? Depending on where your at there are different sells taxes so it would be hard to give you an exact figure.

why don't you save up another $40 dollars and buy a brand new Arcade unit instead, personally i don't trust refurbished Xbox 360 specially the early models..

About taxes it all depends where you live, here in New York is 8.3% taxes ..

You don't seem to be in a budget if your deciding to buy accessories ..

Wireless adapter = $100
512MB memory unit= $50
60gig HDD= $100
Rechargeable batteries= $12.00
Quick Charging kit= $30.00
Head set= $20.00
Live Gold card= $50.00
Wireless head set= $60.00
Extra controller= $50.00
Messenger keyboard= $30.00..

If I'm you I'd stick with a Pro model is cheaper in the long run.

I agree with Mvp4eVa. Pro model is much cheaper when you add in all of the upgrades you'll be purchasing eventually.

Also, I would steer clear of the earlier 360 models. Don't inflict unnecessary pain upon yourself. :|

Person 2:  No.
Person 1: Forget it. I'm not buying it.
Person 2: Wait! It's amazing! Unique, charming, drop dead gorgeous... Hello?

You do realize you can get a lot of the stuff above for much less than the prices you have quoted right (just look a tiny bit).  Just look around online at reputable places like newegg and you can find it.   You can get the 13 month live cards at newegg free shipping for around $35-39 and the messenger keypad for $25, Wireless controllers for $38, and wireless network adapter for $87.  (all of those were on newegg and most were free shipping)

You can get a 20gb 360 hd for under $40 on ebay.

The original post doesn't make much sense. You already know what you are going to pay. The 360 has a few accessories but only you can decide what you want. I got a old 360 for cheap and I haven't put a cent into it. No Live gold, No charger, nothing.

Wireless adapter = $100 $80 ($50 for a XBOX adapter which works just as well)
512MB memory unit= $50 $43
60gig HDD= $100
Rechargeable batteries= $12.00
Quick Charging kit= $30.00 $18
Head set= $20.00 $18
Live Gold card= $50.00 $39
Wireless head set= $60.00 $45
Extra controller= $50.00  $35
Messenger keyboard= $30.00 $25

All prices from Amazon.com

There are many more places where you can find stuff even cheaper.

Those prices that I listed above are from retail stores...(Best buy, Gamestop, Toys R US etc) ....where the majority of consumers go out and buy ..

Sure they are other alternatives with better offers, but they might charge for shipping or others hidden charges, maybe not, but the list above are that actual prices ..

Even Microsoft at XBOX.com you'll see the same full prices, no bargain there.

Also taking in consideration the younger gamers with part time jobs and no credit cards, there's no online alternatives but stuck with the full retail prices ...

Come on man, most people have a debit card at 18 or younger.  Yes it may be a hassle to a few people, but for the most part the younger generation have embraced the net and have taken full advantage of its cheaper prices.   Most of your prices are still on the high end for retail, I could have bought a 13 month live card from walmart (brick and mortar not online) for under $40.

EDIT**************************

Just took a quick look at the walmart.com and all of their prices are even cheaper than the ones we priced.  And that is even if you pick them up in the store.
