EA register Cricket 9 with Australian Classification Board

Posted by Daniel Vuckovic on 02.13.09

Could it finally be happening? Could a Cricket game be coming to the Nintendo Wii? Well, the journey is one step closer with the Australian Classification Board updating today with the title "Cricket 9". The game is currently listed as multi-platform, but like most OFLC entries, that means nothing as the board lists many games that are one-console exclusives as multiplatform anyway. The country of origin for this game is Canada, which could mean EA Canada are behind the title. The team at EA Canada have previously made a range of sports games for EA, however we're not quite sure how popular Cricket is in Canada. We've contacted EA for a response.

I know its been a long wait but its finally here, maybe.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

I can't believe it's taken this long....

Awesome. Wii cricket is a no brainer. Motion plus and balance board support is a must.

Your source quotes it as multiplatform. Could also be HD-Cricket ... without a Wii-Version.

Alright, your fielding. Just stand there

@the cynics, ofcourse its coming for Wii. Timing is pretty obvious when WM+ is shown and we get a new Tennis.
