Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wii owner? tired of being disrespected?

^but he is right that is not always the case

look at some of the tenchu reviews

in the one the person just runs around like a moron in a stealth action game and wonders why she dies so much?

then blames it on the game and the wii

Rygar is a port of an Eight year old game that received absolutely no improvements which begs the question why bother? And every tenchu games after the first has gotten poor reviews. Tenchu Z on the 360 got a bad score on the DS and even the PSP port of Tenchu 4 will get poor scores.

Well then what is the unfair part about those scores? Having one reviewer who thinks differently about a game happens all the time, and they seemed to justify their scores perfectly fine within the context of their own review, so where's the issue, where's the bias?

it's not about one review, or one anything.  if you really don't believe the Wii is looked down upon the gaming community, despite having plenty of quality titles, then I guess you don't need to concern yourself with this topic.

again, please look around the website first... it's all detailed there.  including a long list of worth-while Wii titles.

I think you are reading between the lines of those reviews too much if you think they got a 1/5 or 2/5 because they weren't in HD. They got such bad scores from Xplay because those guys hated how they played. If they were really pretty perhaps the score could go up slightly because they would have some redeeming aspect, but they could've made them pretty with art style just as easily as making an HD game with crappy gameplay pretty to look at.

I have seen reviews of multiplatform games deduct from the score of the Wii because it is not in HD or because the Wii does not do wide screen. Puzzle Quest comes to mind.  So it is done.

Also, the biggest problem with an unfair low score on the Wii is that there are fewer reviews done of Wii games, so there are not the mass to balance things out. One obnoxious low score in 10 reviews is a lot more of a problem than one (or two) in 30.

The gaming community may or may not look down upon the Wii, but you are the one who brought up these reviews and stated that they only occurred because they were on the Wii.  You have done absolutely nothing to back that up.

And no, I will not go read your website, you brought up the discussion here so lets discuss it.

the games are not scored so low because they are on Wii. they are scored low because they are party games and other various nonsence. that being said the Wii does have some good game. SMG is a brilliant game.

I believe its a case of people loving the name of the games or the console itself rather than actually having a problem with the reviews.

Its the same across all platforms a game that is somewhat hyped gets a 6 or 7 then you hear "review system is broken" "bias". If that same game had gotten a 9 or 10 then its excellent the best games are on x console etc.

(The exception of course being GTA4)

Z and DS were basically just attempts by the folks who took over the franchise to cash in.  there truly was very little "stealth" in the DS game... there wasn't much at all besides a nice story.

Z was more of a create-your-own-ninja sim and had little to do with the Tenchu franchise... it could have been any game or stand alone.

Tenchu: Shadow Assassins represents an attempt from ORIGINAL developers (the ones that made the first couple Tenchu games that everyone seems to like) to bring Tenchu back to the forefront of the genre.  many reviewers acknowledge this and have given the game good scores, reactions from people who have played it have been generally positive.

the point being that the X-Play review is completely inconsistent with other views of this title and I think I know why.

even their review of Rygar is flawed by the fact that there is not nearly as much motion control in the game as they make it out to be.... in fact, most of the motion control is used in the OPTIONAL game mode.

and for folks like me who never played the PS2 Rygar, why does it matter that this release doesn't offer much more than a restyling and a slight bump in graphics? does the re-release of games on the Virtual Console or PSN make them worse titles now than a decade+ ago?  Rygar retails at $39.99 - so they recognize that it would be wrong to charge for a completely "new" title.
