Forums - Sony Discussion - Low KZ2 Pre-Orders means NO gamespot Midnight Launch! (confirmed)

GameStop Snubs Killzone 2 Out of a Midnight Release

With the release of Killzone 2 just a matter of a few weeks away, GamingFront.net have discovered that due to low pre-orders most GameStop Stores will not have a midnight launch party.

Over the past few weeks GamingFront.net have been plugging away trying to find out just how well the GameStop/Killzone 2 pre-order promotion is going. Now it appears as if most gamers that pre-ordered Killzone 2 will have to wait until their local GameStop store opens the day of the 27th.

Numerous GameStop locations throughout the west coast have stated that there are just not enough pre-orders of the game to warrant a midnight release.

This all comes on the heels of what many have perceived to be an absolutely botched pre-order promotion for Killzone 2. Gamers in North America that wanted to play the Killzone 2 demo before the games release had to pre-order the game from GameStop. The only problem is that all anyone has to do to play the demo is download it from the European PSN store. To make matters worse, GameStop has been accused of under advertising the game. At most GameStop stores nation wide there is a severe lack of advertising for the game. Often times the only note of its release is on the coming soon board.

Did GameStop/Sony botch the pre-order Killzone 2 deal? Let us know what you think

----bull

i call fol on that one, every gamestop in my area has tons of ads for this game

sounds like bitter tears from an angry nerd

Hmm, how long does GS need to arrange that midnight launch? maybe they'll get more pre-orders once Sony starts advertising...

OT, that's quite bad.

And besides, people pre-ordered somewhere else. That bonus is dumb.

Midnight launch or not KZ2 will be EPIC

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

I am saddened...

Btw, two questions:

1. Which games recently have had midnight launches?

2. How many pre-orders does a store have to get to do a midnight?

@ Underline: Its Sony's job to advertise the game, Gamestop can do as it sees fit.

Tease.

I'm not preordering it, I'll pick it up on launch because from my experience games are never sold out.

Kirby, you sad, sad little person. I had much respect for you...

Its all a joke, he didnt say that!

Tease.

All of the Killzone 2 demos were sold out at the Gamestop I shop at. I never really thought this game would have a midnight launch, so I don't really know what to make of this news.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

Sony isnt advertising Killzone 2 AT ALL from what I've seen....I have not seen a single Killzone 2 ad what so ever.
