Forums - Sony Discussion - *RUMOUR* PS4 Specs: Holographic Disc (HVD)

Some highlights:

"Sometimes special promotions are created by Sony that introduce or bundle new color, games, or peripherals with a PS4.These promotional PS4 often have additional suffixes added to the model numbers."

Wow!

"The PS4 motherboard looks like the later PS3 motherboards (no PS2 compatibility chips)."

"It seems a mobile PS5 that can plug into a big screen via HDMI2, and has capabilities of touchscreen, miniature speakers, digital camera, multi-array microphone, mobile phone, FM/AM radio, TV reception, GPS, motion sensing (accelerometer), local connections (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and/or IrDA), and projection glasses output, will bring in the next generation personal technical device. This device would, of course, be able to have it's own static ip to host servers for webpages and other types of next generation internet services, or web protocols."

Wow! Best and most reliable website ever!!!

Awesome trailer for the new Ganbare Goemon game, to be released in March, 2009 for... Well, it's a Pachinko machine with a display. Oh, God.

*NEW SUPER MARIO BROS WII*:  Now it's gonna happen!!! Thank you so much Nintendo.

If they made short trip into future they should have written all data on soccer and american football wins instead of waisting time on ps4 and ps5 :D

PROUD MEMBER OF THE PSP RPG FAN CLUB

Why would any company go with a new more expensive format when Blu-Ray will be rather cheap next-gen w/ a 200GB+ Capacity on High Density BR discs?

PREDICTIONS:
(Predicted on 5/31/11) END of 2011 Sales - Xbox 360 = 62M;  PS3 = 59M;  Wii = 97M

If Microsoft or Nintendo put blu-ray into their next gen systems. Would they have to pay Sony anything? I am not sure how all this stuff works.

There are ALOT more specs here: http://www.edepot.com/playstation4.html

Once again this is a rumour but a lot of work went into this so its worth a look

I dont know much about edeopt but its a kool write up (as phantasy as it sounds)   :)

That's not rumor, as many of those specifications don't even exist yet.  The concept that in 2011 your PS4 will be running 100Gbit is completely nonsense.  Over what medium?

9.1 channel sound?  Using what decoding mechanism?  There exist "9.1 channel" kits out there, but they only support 5.1 and 7.1 codecs like Dobly-Digital EX and DTS-ES.

So whoever wrote that matrix is not only guessing, he's also stupid.

I don't know, the numbers seem a little low to me. I think the PS4 could easily go to 11.

lol HVD, never. if Sony does upgrade formats it will be something they make themself.

bs. Nothing but.

the PS4 will have Blu-ray. SONY invested to much in this format to not use it for the next few generations atleast

I mostly play RTS and Moba style games now adays as well as ALOT of benchmarking. I do play other games however such as the witcher 3 and Crysis 3, and recently Ashes of the Singularity. I love gaming on the cutting edge and refuse to accept any compromises. Proud member of the Glorious PC Gaming Master Race. Long Live SHIO!!!!

I will give out $1000 to everyone in this thread if the next PS console doesn't have Blu-Ray.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson
