Forums - Sony Discussion - Ign Uk review heavenly sword

Score 7.0

Presentation 9 Superficially at least, Heavenly Sword is an almost impeccable display of sheer, unrestrained talent. Graphics 9 Minor framerate and tearing issues aside, Heavenly Sword is an absolutel tour de force of visual splendour. Sound 8.5 Voice acting, effects work and soundtrack hit all the rights buttons with gusto, although occassional dodgy level mixing hurts. Gameplay 6.0 As solid as its component parts are, poor design decisions and awful structure mean they never make for a cohesive, satisfying whole. Lasting Appeal 6.0 Despite the wealth of combos and extras to unlock, you'll be constnatly battling with tedium on subsequent play-throughs.

Wow, that's huge news IMO.

I had HS pinned as a 8.0-8.5, and the best (or 2nd-best) PS3 title out this Xmas. And I give a lot of credence to IGN reviews (even if this is IGN UK - potentially a less experienced reviewer). IGN (US) may give a difference mark - up to 8 (or even over), but there is no way this is a '9' title now.

So the 360 gets its blockbusters: Bioshock, Halo, Mass Effect (at least - Im predicting solid '9' scores for Mass Effect now).

And the Wii gets its blockbusters: Metroid, Galaxy & Brawl - all likely to score mid/high 9's.

...this leaves the PS3 with 2 titles left: Uncharted, R&C. The importance of these titles are now grown significantly - it could be a serious body blow if the PS3 is left without a AAA title this Xmas. I guess you could throw GT Prologue in there as well.

yes i agree, this could hurt if they dont have a good game out, again people might wonder why make the 500 dollar jump to a ps3 when there are very few AAA games out for it, and you have two cheaper systems with more and better titles. Sony really needs to hit these issues if they want to do at least decent or well in this generation

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

dude wtf? It says not ready on the link?

edit: dam... uk gave it a 7.0... this is terrible...I was expecting at the lowest an 8.5, wow... then microsoft was smart pushing this game away..7.0 for me to waste on a game 60buks would be a waste of money. Dam and I really wanted that game.

This same guy gave Lost Planet a 7 and resistance an 8 which IGN US gave it a 9.

So this will get an 8? Still not a AAA title. And there's only 2 AAA titles left for the PS3 this year, so I don't know how your predctions gonna work outlawauron, unless it has 5 other AAA titles I don't know about.

1/ PS3 dont have any title that can kill Bioshock/Halo3 (I put away MassEffect for the moment) or Mario/Metroid
I m ok with this

2/ there are still of most anticipated title that are coming on the PS3, even if the majority seems to be multiplateform that will reach the PS3 and the Xbox360,

3/ PS3 will sell even with medium/good title cause it is always better than NO TITLE AT ALL !

4/ same for Wii that will sell even without AAA title

5/ Brandname is still an underrated parmater in the mind of a lot of people:
playstation is stronger than Xbox everywhere except in NA/UK where playstation=Xbox

6/ twesterm,
to directly answer u :
yes these title will sell like hot, like the whole Wii "Storm"

Super Mario Galaxy
Super Smash Bros Brawl
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
+ RE UC

I extract these 4 title cause I think they are the 4 big title of the Wii

a/ yes i m not appealing by Mario but MP3 and RE UC should be very interesting
Overall, it is why i have saied "for me" when I was talking about PS3 title vs Wii title.
b/ these games maybe very good
c/ since all his about taste, I m not sure u can determinate who has the better line-up
d/ take an example :
go on internet try to find a "most anticipiated" list for 2007 and I m sure 2*Mario+MP3+REUC will be killed by CoD4/PES2008/PGR4/GT5pro/Halo3/Haze/Unchartred/Heavenlysword

e/ Personnaly, all system mixed, I will like to play :

Bioshock/GT5pro/Unchartred (if it is good^^)/maybe an FPS but dont know which one

Time to Work !

well until the "real" review is out I wont say heavenlysword is bad, Im still going to buy it, even if it gets a 6 or a 7.

Am I the only one who thinks these games (Lair and Heavenly Sword) are getting these bad reviews because Sony is rushing them out so that they don't have an abysmal software lineup this year? 6 or 7 hours of gameplay is ridiculous. There isn't even a Gamecube game that short and they are on 1.5 GB minidiscs. There is no way that this game went through a full development cycle if a reviewer can beat it in 6 hours. I think the same thing happened with Lair. A lot of the issues sound like problems that happen when a game is rushed to the market. Is Sony killing its own games in order to make it look like they have a better 07 lineup?

Seriously, 6-7 hrs for an action game like this is ridiculously short.  Every once in a while I like and play some of these 1 vs the world button mashing games (yes yes HS is not all button mashing but its close) and 6-7 hrs is just way too short.  Dynasty warriors may be ridiculed but they've actually got a lot of content, repetitive though it may be.

Maybe they should've taken some of those 10 gigs of audio space they used up and put some more levels in there instead.
