Nothing released yet on any platform.

Street Fighter IV will be the first.

This makes me wonder what criteria you could be using.

Games doing something really fresh, most aren't.  A lot of games people list are games that have been done a dozen times already.

I try to imagine what it will be like looking back at this gen in 10 years.  The real classics I remember from other gens are games that were kind of unique and everyone chatted about.  This gen is mostly last gen games with HD graphics and little tweaks here and there.

People list games like MGS4, but it was just a wannabe third person shooter, not a very good one, and the online is worse than MGS3s.  In 10 years most of this user generated content on LBP will probably be history, and the base game is short and easily boring.  GTA IV is a massive dissapointment compared to previous main games, CoD4 won't be as recognised as it is now because by the end of the gen there will have been another 4 or 5 CoD games that bettered it.  Killzone 2 just does nothing new at all to remember, its main point is graphics and it will be outdone and forgot by plenty of games come generation end.

I know SF IV is updating a game from 15 years ago so it won't just be a graphical updated of overused gameplay, it is sticking to a 2D arena when nearly every fighting game is 3D now so it will have that unique feel and so on.

How does that line of reasoning preclude Wii Sports, exactly? You say "any platform", yet you only name HD games, and those only on HD consoles.

Anything on Wii.

I think there are two possible benchmarks for what is considered "classic".

One is the type of classic you'd find ten years in the future on a show called "I love the 00's". What we will find here is indeed Nintendogs, Wii-series, Halo 3 (due to promotion), braintraining and GTA.

Then we have the "Fan-classic". Any game that will fondly be remembered on messageboards like these. Portal/Orange box is a major one, CoD4 is, Gears is, Mario Galaxy, you can fill in the rest.

Wii Sports
Wii Fit
Nintendogs
Brain Training

I find your perspective skewed, sir, and have my doubts as to the veracity of your predictions.

Halo 3, duh.

MGS4
Wii sports (though for an entirely different reason)
COD4

Games that come close to becoming considered a classic in the future:
Bioshock
Mario Galaxy
Mass Effect (trilogy)
Gears of War

All I can think of...

whats with everyone saying valkyria chronicles? it was a good game, but damn. it wasn't nearly successful enough to be a classic.

I believe Portal will be considered a classic.

Ah, yes, damn right sir, damn right.

All I can think about too is Portal. Its the only innovative game that has been made lately. Others have been *meh*. Well, theres lots of games with lots of hype, but just about nothing else.

Little big planet will live forever. EOD. And maybe battlefield 1943. Bf 1942 still lives on my computer, and i play it allot.

2 reasons for 360 sales.

Cheap arcade version, wich the mom buys for the kids.

And microsoft's wallet.
