Atlus

They are more consistent with their games.

SquareEnix. I love the main Final Fantasy series. The spin offs .... not so much.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Atlus= 3

Square Enix = 3

Astral On the Sega Saturn is another Atlus game.

Boycotting the following:

1. Yoshi: He ate my car and spit out a toaster.

2. Igglybuff: Totally false advertisement. You can have as many as you like they don't buff nothing.

3. the Terms Hardcore/Softcore... We're talking Video Games. Not Porn.

4. The term Casual as relates to Gamers: We make them sound like outsider's that happen to play games.  If that were the case they'd own a PS3.

5. Donuts.... Beacause I drink Beer...... and the biggest fan of Donuts hates Beer.

6. Boycotts: Their so lame.

I always see these types of threads from people that don't realize that Atlus doesn't even make half of these games. I don't understand how people can be so hard on for some of these games not even take the time to see who made them.

You're basically saying Square Enix games vs. whoever the hell Atlus feels like publishing tomorrow. I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to give it to Square Enix because they actually make games. I appreciate Atlus bringing over these efforts that most likely would never get recognized before, but I've come across many an Atlus fanboy who starts holding the company up like some god and going "Atlus games vs. [popular developer]!" But since they're fanboys, I guess they don't really care that Atlus doesn't make those games...the outcome would be the same in their eyes regardless.

Claude, I have no idea what you are referring to. I always thought they were Atlus games, not just published by Atlus. Can you please name some games that were not made by Atlus?

Atlus by far. Most SE games are poor.

Geeze.... this is tough. I am going to have to go with SE. As a publisher they have brought some amazing titles to light. Atlus is awesome but the majority of titles are misses for me. EDIT: ClaudeLv250, SE does publish quite a bit. I gave the vote to them but not with a smile on my face. SE doesn't back the games they publish either. Xenogears, radiata stories and many others could have been better of with some more TLC by SE. But they are to busy protecting their nest egg to help other franchises emerge.

Well take a look at the games people are hailing in this thread. Luminous Arc, Odin Sphere, Disgaea (WTF?), Ogre series, Etrian Odyssey, Growlanser series, Riviera, Izuna, etc. NONE of these games are made by Atlus. It's just hilarious seeing people infer that they're better. What exactly are they better at? The only franchise I can thinkgo f that's actually owned and developed by Atlus is Shin Megami Tensei. So this "vs." thread is basically Shin Megami Tensei vs. the entire Square Enix library (2 decades worth from two formerly separate companies), which is unfair, or rather for the sake of this thread...a handful of random games made by independant Japanese developers that Atlus may have brought over to us vs. games conceptualized, developed, then released by Square Enix. Either way you weigh it, it's outlandish.

Marvelous Interactive on Luminous Arc could be an example I guess.

Anyway,

Square Enix= 5

Atlus = 4

By the way. The only thing I'm a Fanboy of is good games.

I know, but the majority of games SE is known for they own and develop themselves. But they're usually involved with those actual companies and fund them. Atlus on the other hand usually have absolutely nothing to do with any of the games being attributed to them until years after the JP release, when they're in "What should we bring to North America today?" mood and chooses one through whatever process it is that they use. The actual games are usually made by small, independant Japanese developers who may publish their own games in Japan or get published by a company that doesn't normally deal with localization outside of Japan. Somehow through the process, Atlus gets complete credit and then we get threads like this where these random string of games are being used as cannon fodder against SE. On another note: I'm glad SE didn't mess with Radiata Stories. It was the most mediocre effort of tri-Ace to date and I prefer they make their own style games, even if they are misses, without some omnipotent enforcement from SE stepping in and trying to change things.
