Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Do you still seeing the Wii as the "kiddy" console?

Ok many publisher's have been announcing core titles for the Wii, infact, there are more core titles known than casuals...

And we are yet to see what EA will bring more with their 50% focus on the Wii and Konami with their major IP for Wii as IGN stated, Red Steel 2 from Ubisoft and of course the killer app's from Nintendo... and don't forget Dragon Quest X and hopefully an iteration of FF13 which seems likely to happen :)

It seems that 2009 will be one great year for the Wii in all fronts of software as it was for the DS too.

So, afterall this I can see the Wii come closer the PS3 in hardcore games (I own both), and it definitely doesn't look anymore the console for the kids and grandparents...

So your thoughts?

Disney is for kids, Pixar is for kids > end thread

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Wii has lots of great games for adults, and some for kids too. I don't see how its a kid console when its for everyone. Kids don't even like Wii Fit, probably.

Getting a few hardcore titles doesn't negative all the "kiddie" titles. It is still the console of choice for kids and grandparents and always will be. Deal with it.

not true, older people play wii too

I am not a kid and I love disney and pixar animations and magazines...

The Wii never has been the kiddy console. To be quite honest, the 360 seems like the console of choice for kids *coughXBLcough*

Usually people who say the Wii is kiddy are just butthurt PS3 fans or 'roid raging 360 frat boys.

And no, before sparks fly, I don't mean all PS3 fans are butthurt and I don't mean all 360 owners are comprised of wee tikes/roid monkeys.

By life end:

  • Wii- 100 million+
  • Xbox360- 35~40 million
  • PS3- 30 million
  • PSP- 30~32 million ------------- FAILURE
  • NDS- 85~90 million (Skeptical)  - FAILURE
  • NDS- 100 million+ (Optimistic) -- Success!

A few?

Buddy you should look at the 09 line-up. Also the PS2 was the choice console for kids last gen - it was the market leader - but it doesn't turn it on a kiddy console does it?

So that doesn't mean normal gamers won't like it.  I don't understand your point.  Its for everybody.

Yea, and you should check out the amount of "kiddie" games. Compared to PS3/360, the amount of hardcore titles doesn't match up yet. That's all that can be said.
